@@duanehensley8835 until a better rating system comes out, in my opinion, ratings are for novelty purposes and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. 😳

@@spaghettimanpickleball Should one expect that an older 55+ 4.0 player to be not as good as a younger 4.0 player? In other words, how good a player actually is is based off of a compelation of age bracket and dupre ratings?

@@duanehensley8835 just 5 years ago, before any attempt at a formulated rating system, tournament directors gave the governing body recommendations for an individuals skill level. They were for life unless you wanted to challenge it at some point. A 5.0 player over 50 years old would mostly lose to the younger 5.0 but not when playing other 50+ players. The new rating systems are based on wins regardless of age. The data is incomplete with no subjective data allowed. In my opinion, it’s made the ratings very confusing for everyone. I would like to see more age based tournaments with pool play followed with an upper and lower bracket playoff.

The greater the level player; the better there foot work and the more relaxed and consistent they are in their form, technique and strokes. And speed and athleticism does not always win.

Thanks for your comments. I can barely get to a match in time with one camera, let alone two or more as the location is not known until called. I will try to reduce the speakers as background noise. Post commentary is being looked at and a trial match is about to be released. It comes down to how much time do I spend editing. It’s a lot already.

Do you have some time stamps you can refer us to? It is difficult from this camera angle to see them clearly. The ref should be watching for kitchen violations but that doesn't always happen.

@@spaghettimanpickleball on time 3.54 the guy in blue , 5.39 the lady in the white pierce the line , All you have to do is watch and you will see many more times that all players pierce the kitchen.

I replayed the video at 1/4 speed. A 3:54, the guy in blue steps parallel to, but not on, the NVZ line with his right foot then left foot then steps across the corner of the kitchen with his right foot. There was no foot fault. At 5:39, the lady in white's left foot steps up to the NVZ line but it doesn't look to me like she touches the line. The ref, standing at the net, is in the best position to see a foot fault. The camera view from well behind the baseline is a terrible position to judge a foot fault. Not an issue in this case but one of the many fine points of pickleball rules is the tip of the shoe has to actually "touch" the NVZ line, not simply be over it. Looking at it from above, the tip of a shoe could be over the line while the sole of the shoe at the tip curves up and is not actually touching the line. The ref is in the best position to make that judgement. To answer your question "Is the ref calling the kitchen line?" At 9:58, the ref calls "Foot fault right foot" on the guy with the pink shirt. I haven't seen the entire video. There may be more.

@@spaghettimanpickleball Don't know what you seen but he step on the kitchen line, they also step on line (5.39), (6.24), (7;19) .

@@frizzyb8586 I see no obvious foot faults. A players foot can be extremely close to line and inexperienced viewers may think a foot fault happened. You can’t possibly know from the angles and distances shown. I venture an educated guess from experience no foot faults occurred or very few.

This was open for anyone with a 4.0+ rating and age 65 or higher. This bracket had 22 teams.
