Wow, I've searched far and wide for a video about this test procedure that answers all my questions, and I finally found it. I'm not a Toyota owner, but I have a Mazda with these quick-connect fittings and no Schrader valve, and I was at a loss as to how to connect those rental fuel pressure gauges, which typically don't have all the fittings you need for this setup. Kudos especially for going into detail about the fitting sizes (very well explained). Thank you for posting this!

what you do with the timing chain tensioner was the great help I know you change the timing chain itself on that motor I can use all the torque specs on it I would appreciate it

Thank you for the clear instructions. My daughter hated our expensive shower head and tried to return it. Just a tap and it went from unusable to terrific.

That's a good tip. One thing I do when the oil is fresh and clear (and so hard to see) is to "blot" the dipstick onto a tissue. To explain: I lay the dipstick down onto a tissue or paper towel placed on a flat surface, with the end of the stick at the edge of the tissue. I then lift the stick directly off and can see where the oil soaked into the tissue. I match that up to the stick and its high-low marks and can see what the level is.

Excellent detail "L35"! I also like how you place the timestamp info in the video and a pinned comment.

OMGosh!!! This is THE BEST DIY video on the entire KZfaq! Detailed, thorough explanations, great editing, great filming, lighting, graphics. Not only the how, but the why and the why not! I came here because I have a P0016 code--"crankshaft position camshaft position correlation bank 1 sensor 1". My Autel code reader gave some possible fixes. I have replaced both crank and cam sensor (because they were easiest to do). Next is replacing the chain tensioner (its leaking oil also)--and while I do the procedure so expertly detailed in this video I can check timing and whether the chain skipped a tooth. Any additional suggestions? Do Toyota timing chains stretch/wear after 200k miles? Thanks again for the video!

Great video. The servo on my 3rd gen 4runner is failing so I just installed a new servo from NAPA. Still having the same issue where the arm gets stuck and will move randomly until I fiddle with the thermostat. Anyone have an idea what to troubleshoot next?

Great video The one thing I would add is she could have started the engine to make sure it ran ok in other words your timing was correctly aligned. Once she put the bottom timing cover on an the harmonic balancer. The reason I do this is because if your off a tooth you don't have to tear the whole thing back down.

Thanks for the great vid. You put so much effort into this. 😁👍 I'm gonna change mine soon. Already got the Fel-pro gasket but I'm wondering if I can use Permatex Red RTV on the 2 locations described? 🤔

You need a 23 millimiter socket to remove the nut around the shaft of the wiper motor, not a 24 millimiter. If the nut is too rusty, use an impact tool. A wiper arm puller may also be necessary as well to remove the arm.

OMG your videos are the the best out there, very educational and inspiring. Huge help for the w163 community. You never get frustrated and maybe it's the tone of your voice that makes anyone think they could tackle just anything haha. All the best! I do hear ticking inside the dash and thinking maybe some of these plastic actuator linkages are broken, will have to try and peek inside...

hello. first! great detailed video! just purchased a 96 awd rav4. once the car is warmed up its idles real low and sometimes stalls. while this was happening I was able to pop the white hose off the egr valve and the car then started to idle normal. what can be the cause of this ? car is throwing codes 401 and 402. thank you

I have an 03 corolla with this engine and its at 130k miles. At start up im hearing what sounds like the timing chain rubbing against something (almost a gurgling/dragging sound, but hard to describe). After starting, the sound is mostly while in gear and engine idle is low. Doesn't matter if engine is hot or cold. If I put it in neutral and as rpms come up a bit, sound appears to go away. Watched a ton of videos, and this one seems to be the most in depth. Does my issue sound like a bad timing chain tensioner? Hoping I can fix this myself and avoid and expensive repair if possible. Hope this comment finds you and you can provide some assistance. THanks!

Although I haven't reached 29k miles on my 2018 RX450h F Sport, I have reached the 72-month milestone. I have purchased all OE Spark Plugs, Ignition Coils, and PCV Valve and plan on doing a comprehensive tuneup. I also plan to clean both my Throttle Body and my Mass Air Flow Sensor. I have never done this before, but, I've watched a dozen Spark Plug replacement videos multiple times. However, your video was the most informative and insightful I've yet to see. Even the errors you highlighted and corrected were teaching moments. Even though my vehicle is slightly different than the one you've worked on, the overall concept is the same. Good job young lady, good job.
