Yup, that is indeed one of the piston rods from Ivatt 2MT No 46447.

Initially 46447 will be painted in BR Black. Hopefully we will also get the opportunity to paint it into Lined Green before the next overhaul!

@rlewis1946 Im unable to tell you where we got the air hammers. The inside tool is pirmarily there to hold the rivet while the other one is used to push the rivet in to the hole and form the head. As such its just done on voice commands

@dueltruckman I was wondering the same thing. (I'm new here and also to this kind of heavy duty riveting.) It looks like both tools are air hammers. Can you explain how they work together? Are in in sync, so one off sets the force of the other from the workers point of view? I'm glad someone can still do this kind of work! Looking forward to more videos. @allencr267 We actually drilled all the old rivets out and the correct size holes our self and a few other members of the team not shown in this vid

The ear plugs used are designed to filter out the noise levels being generated
