Wow. I’ve only just caught up to this video, but wish I’d watched it sooner. There’s a reason that I enjoy watching you (and the other guys) rather than a lot of the ‘mainstream’ channels. It’s because you’re “honest”. It’s because you don’t fanny about and constantly chase the algorithm. It’s because you’re not trying to sell your book, or your masterclass, or your upcoming trip to Antsvalbardialand after every second advert break in your vlogs. I guess it’s because I can relate to you all far more easily perhaps. I know there was a promise of a photo meet up that hasn’t happened (yet), because of my broken down car, and then everything got busy, but I know if it’s meant to happen, it will, but you know what? It’s not an issue if it doesn’t, because I also know you’re very busy looking after your wife and with life in general. And trying to recover from blistered feet. Because you didn’t prepare you wally 😁 Anyway I bet you’d have called me when my camera was away at the Canon PSC being repaired 😜. Please, every single one of you, carry on just as you are, warts and all. And well done again - 25 miles really IS a long way.

Time is precious, you can't keep it or buy it. The fact that you give yours away to people you don't even know (me), and to charities is reason enough to give you a like, but you bring so much more than that. I binge watched the Pubcast when I found it and have followed the entire cast since then. Thank you for all of that.

I rarely watch the big name photographers, much prefer people such as James Burns. I know for a fact that he'll take the time and trouble to reply to any comments I make. Get some more videos out there and enjoy being who you are. Millions of subscribers? Who cares. It's the personal touch that matters.

Ahhhh reading through the comments, you can feel the love for you and the guys, plus what you achieved and have all done for the global photography community 👏🏼. In life we often have lots of acquaintances and a few friends that we would be happy to spend our valuable time with. It is a shame that you didn’t get the support from those photographer's, a message or mention wouldn't have hurt. I think it shows how wrapped up in our own little world many of us are that we fail to notice or acknowledge the good and beauty surrounding us. The docu style recap was masterful, you should be rightly proud. Let's see what support you get next time 🤔😉🤣

Gary, I've been a follower and supporter since the first days of the Pubcast. I'm also an old distance runner, so I know what an accomplishment that 25 miles was. You earned yourself some serious bragging rights! I always enjoy your videos, but the video documentary on the walk was something special. I'm sorry you didn't get the support you deserved from the online photography community. I don't explain these things, but, it does seem that those who knew could have shared the information. BTW, I do have one piece of advice for you and Jamie - before you do anything like this again, get yourselves to a running or hiking store and get some proper socks. Along with good shoes, it makes all the difference. Keep up the good work!

I've said it for a long time, the photography community and the 3 groups are exactly like the Class system, best portraid in TW3 by the 2 Ronnies and Cleese. The "elite" group you describe have the mindset of the old upper class and look down on everyone else but still expect support from the 2 lower groups. "Your" second group still strive to be in the first group and like them look down on the group below you and expect their support. Meanwhile us "working class" know you 2 groups look down on us but we still support you,,, It's just the modern class system no matter how you dress it. Well done on the walk, your stopping in the middle of nowhere rant at 25 miles was epic and even better that you did the extra bit! 👏 (Yes I know I'm in the working class below you so I doubt you'll even start reading this 🤣)

Good point, very well made Gary. Just keep it real as you, and the other pubcast guys do, and I'm sure we'll all be here for you. No we haven't met, yes I've commented a few times, and you have replied. You wouldn't recognise me, but I think I'd recognise you if I saw you and would be chuffed to meet a REAL person. I did once meet one of the top 2 or 3 Landscape photographers to whom you referred, and was met with a rather cold and disinterested 'who are you' look with no attempt at meaningful interaction at all, probably because I couldn't help them (or so they thought).

I have unsubscribed ages ago from the person I think to whom you are referring. Gone down in my estimation. You and the Pubcast guys deserve all the recognition for what you did. Ignore the all those that couldn't be bothered, they are not worth worrying about. You all acheived an amazing task, perhaps they were too ashamed to admit they wouldn't be able to do, so ignored the situation. I was dissappointed Dave couldn't be with you because I am sure he would have given you some stick Gary in the nicest way. Looking forward to the next season of Pubcast ramblings in the Appature Arms. Well done all.

When you started this conversation straight away I knew who you was talking about and it just was not one person! That charity walk was for a cause and not just for the sake of promoting yourselves, I donated and I watched you guys suffer on that walk and you never gave up. I quite expected some of the well named and watched KZfaq photographers on here who spend thousands on photo gear to donate or mention on what you guys were doing, its just the same on Instagram they expect you to give a like to all their pictures but you never hear nothing off them when you put a picture on there.....I only started watching KZfaq when the pandemic started and I was a amazed how few viewers these girls and guys had and they all would send a thank you of some kind then all of a sudden with over ten K viewers you then heard nothing from them as they had moved on to the top, division, shame on them, sometimes I wonder whether its about them and nothing to do with photography at all, you don't have to be clever to do what they do, I think they are very selfish people not to acknowledge what you guys have done.....At the mo I am sitting on my balcony licking a vanilla Ice cream in the Costa but at least I gave you 15 minutes of my time and a like, and fully understood what you was talking about..... catch up with you on the next blog. Thank You for the time you spend on here talking to us!

Hi Gary, I was quite surprised when I read the KZfaq posts before & afterwards that there were no messages of support from people I expected to do so. In particular there are vitually none from ex-pubcast members and guests. Perhaps they supported you on Instagram which I only watched when you were on the walk. Nevertheless well done to you all on the walk and I look forward to next season's pubcast.

I've got no skin in the game. I don't vlog and I've no interest in turning photography into a job. I'm not going to blow smoke up anyone's bahookie here. I'm too long in the tooth for that. You guys did great and you deserve all credit for putting yourself out there ... but if you think that credit's given where credits due, by enlarge, that's just not the way society functions; people have become their own 'achievement engines' and focusing on anyone other than themselves isn't seen as beneficial. Its a real pity that in effect there is no 'photography community' as soon as anyone has the intention of 'going Pro' (there are of course a few exceptions here). Words are cheap, you only need to look at the recent election, lots of words so little meaning. Its only actions that count. Cynical but True.

This is very true mate. Society has changed, and I realise that it's no as unbalanced as it's ever been, but whilst I really recorded this video to say thanks to you guys, I also felt that I needed to say something, because if no one speaks out things will certainly never change.

Although it's a massive disappointment to you (and to me, now that I know) that the "big boys" couldn't be bothered supporting you guys, I'm put in mind of the saying "Be nice to people on the way up, because you'll meet them again on the way down". Just keep on what you're doing and stay true to yourselves. I watched you guys on your trek and you should be proud of the achievement. Who could not, not support and contribute? The problem is that when you push the red button in the plate that it moves does not go all the way in. In mine I can feel that there is a little lip when I oust it in all the way. I use an l bracket as well it goes on easy but removing the bracket is more difficult because of the little bit that doesn’t go in all the way when you push the button in all the way. My work around was to cut a notch on the L bracket so the bracket slides over the safety pin on the ball head.
