I’m sorry I didn’t do the ride back. It is easier to follow one of the locals giving rides both in and out of you have never been there. The difficulty is about the same both in and out of

This is a fantastic place to snorkel. The hike back up is brutal in the heat of the day. I have been there twice by boat, I would avoid the hike for sure.

Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us. Any chance you can post the ride from the beach back to the parking lot please. TYIA

I am sorry I only video'd the way in, we did not do one for the way out.

No worries, I enjoyed watching your video. I am assuming as long as we follow one of those trucks in or out we should be ok. Again, thank you

When we visited green sand beach (almost 10 years ago 😱) there were only 3 cars in the parking lot and a guy with a jeep approached us telling us about the long walk and the rough road… we didn’t know about it but also didn’t trust him.. until a family arrived with their car and quickly jumped into the jeep and was gone heading to the Beach 😲! Luckily another car arrived, carrying 3 elderly women and soon another jeep returned from the beach! We all climbed into the jeep, the guy run the engine connecting the cable (😅🙈🤷🏻♀️) and we went off the beach! The road were bumpier then what we could have imagined so the experience was worth the money!

up a couple miles you can take four wheel drive all the to Makalawena. No need for the long walk.

Hi Rick, got any more information on this?? I’d like to do this if possible. Is there a sign, or telling landmarks?

You guys were Lucky, been down there like 4 times. It wasn't graded off like that...just driving over straight up Lava bed. Only thing graded off was the entrance, and wasn't much lol !! Glad to see it's easy now, be there in September:)

We went in a Dodge Caravan. It was rough lol. Just need to go slow. It was worth it though. The beach was beautiful and we saw a turtle and 2 Hawaiian Monk seals. Wear sneakers or proper walking shoes for walking on the lava rocks. Also bring a lot of water and an umbrella maybe. We got lucky and found a spot under a tree but there are only a few shady spots.

Can a nissan versa survive this road?
@letstraveltogether87472 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can make it, I have seen rental mustangs get down there, but it is slow and rough with a car that small. Just be very careful and gentle on the drive there and back.

We just did this drive in a Chevy Spark... That was an adventure lol. We were the smallest car in the lot
