@@jmox1776By “he” are you referring to the drummer? Because HE is one of the best drummers around.

@@partsmanbadrummer? I only see the singer in this video. The drummer sounds good though sure but I was referring to the singer.

When he first began to do my garden, he said most people he'd worked for never even offered him a drink - no matter how hot or cold out. I found that astonishing. Today it was raining a bit, so I had him come in to eat. Takes minutes to make and costs virtually nothing as a gesture. Yep, Xmas present and the works.

24:45 Is when I lost the back six cars. It does not take long for the braking system to depressurise, when a brake hose brakes. It's a safety system, so that's when I lost them. I wish I'd been able to see it happen, but sadly no. At 30.36 the manifest sheet even said the cars were in 5 separate consists and although I knew something was wrong, I didn't see it. All I needed to do was walk 50 yards down the track, to see the carnage. But I didn't. When you speed up after a corner, it's easy to forget that the cars at the back are half a mile behind you, so when you speed up on the straight, those cars have to take the bend way too fast. I ought to know that, having hundreds of hours in this, train Sim world and Train Planet. We live and learn and boy did I learn as it cost me all it had taken weeks to earn.

John Mellor was a complete fake phony playing a role for the cameras. Once there was no cameras around he reverted back to his posh rp accent and private school persona. It was all a big act to subvert the working class youth with left wing commie drivel. The whole band was fake, completely manufactured for the very start.

I've got to tell you, this is a very bold claim. I was a young teen, just getting into bands, and was down in London through all this period and never once heard this mentioned. I pinned your comment, so others can weight in. Keep it respectful though. Has anyone else heard something similar?

I find this to be a very simplistic view purely aimed at dismissing John Mellor/Joe Strummer and The Clash entirely. I agree they had many contradictions at play and I think that is part of what destroyed the band in the end. I actually have never heard any such claims that Joe would use a posh accent or "private school persona" when the cameras were off. But it's no secret he came from a more well-off background than he wanted people to know. I wouldn't consider being dumped off at boarding school from the age of 9 to be a great way of growing up, though.

There was an American tv show called "Hill Street Blues" about police officers in Los Angeles and one of the subplots was an older sergeant who took a liking to a junkie and tried with all his might to get him to stay straight. And after he thought the guy was finally sober for good, a couple officers brought him into the station, wasted on heroin and the sergeant said to no one in particular, "Junkies will always break your heart."

In tune ... an accord one would say. I know you've suffered loss. I myself had one friend, my best friend, my go-to my confidante, for 14 years minus 2 for stupidity, we spoke/texted ... emailed, communicated every single day, there were dinners, lunches, breakfasts, 1st light surf sessions, festivals, outings, evenings on the beach, just a cigar, and catch up ...such small nothings that were everything's... she was the one "clique" my one connection to this universe, on a benign Tuesday afternoon drive from work she was killed in a single car accident Dec '22. at 39. She was coming back here in January with big changes afoot. Words are incapable of expressing the loss and devastation such a broken connection can cause. When people say they remember, they think of them ... not a day has passed that her mesmerizing smile and devilish grin doesn't echo in my mind.
