True! Makes me wonder why that snare isn't more popular among drummers
@AllThisOverASliceOfGabagool11 ай бұрын
@@mammontustado9680Because his signature snare drum is mega expensive. I still own one of the original 500 snares that was made that has the Majesty logo wrapped all around the drum. It has a story of it's own, that snare. But the condensed story:- I brought it second hand in 2005. Loved it. But then got into a gambling addiction spiral. Sold the snare drum to some guy in Manchester for £200 to fund a night of poker. Lost the money of course. For years I regretted selling the snare. So when one came up for sale I had to jump on it. Anyway, it was only the person I sold the snare to who was selling it, so I was reunited with the snare I originally owned ❤ It is my favourite snare to use especially for recordings. Compliments my Mapex Saturn Snare well, but just has that extra bit of bite for rock due to the hoops.

Remember seeing DT in London in late 90's - they were absolutely phenomenal. Their song writing has run out of gas a bit since then which is a shame.

His Tom sound is phenomenal. Although the OP sound is Scenes From a Memory. Those 24" kicks were something else. I tried for years to achieve that sound.

I'm guessing this was one of Portnoy's "off" days. If you pay attention to all the transitions and fades in the footage, they must have filmed this in at least ten takes. Which is quite strange considering this is one of DT's easier songs to play.
@paradigmshiftz72 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say they're fails, just stuff that didn't make the final cut. Mike filmed himself recording these drums but not when he recorded parts that made the final recording. Maybe when he was tracking drums for the song, he went back, did a few more takes that he preferred (not filming) and chose to use them instead.
