Great video. I am an experienced windsurfer learning to wing foil. I bought a 115l board (I weigh 185 lbs) in hopes of speeding up the curve. Fun learning again.

As someone who had their first session on the foil yesterday, I'd say just lose the straps/hooks completely. You can never fully eliminate the risk of really nasty ankle injuries. There will be cases where even a hook can mess you up. For example yesterday I hit an underwater object (at a familiar spot where I thought it was deep enough) and got launched off the board while going 10+ mph where the board came to an immediate complete stop. Since I had no straps or hooks no damage was done. I cannot imagine how bad it could've turned out with a strap or even a hook. It's really not that hard to ride without straps. If anyone cannot ride a foil board without straps they need to first go and spend time on a strapless surfboard and learn some technique instead of relying on the straps.

i ve been riding foil kites for years in alpine lakes ,, 8-10knots and sometimes i had to swim back to shore, the good thing, is that the kite remain in the air until 5knots then will backstall. only once i had to pack the kite in the water and swim back , roll the lines to the kites, use it as a buoy and once it will slowly deflate, roll it up slowly, to keep air pressure in the remaining part, once deflated, it s rolled like at the end of a cession. for 8 knots riding and if the win will slowly die out, i usually had a small backpack with tiny pair of palms (like bodyboarding ones) and palmed gloves, it saves u energy to swim back in a drop out (LEI or foil kite), some cash and my phone if i end up on the other side of the lake ( 40km perimeter lake) for X reasons. we did some tests with friends, the kite (new kite) will take 30mn to deflate when it s in the water (calm lake , zero knots, we used a blow leafer to inflate it) 90% of launchs are hot launches (whatever the wind, snow or water) as the kite only get power once inflated (my lake launch spot has barely the deph of the lines, error margin is very small) self land: back stall against a fence (can use a human too as it will wrap around him), in low wind, i backstall it then reverse land it on the leading edge (grass or snow) and i will put the chickn loop on something and walk to the kite ( which is full depowered as u dont handle the bar), he will try to get in the ground and not fly away.

It's incredible how the material has developed. With my 65kg, the North Reach 13m2 2024 (not a special super light wind kite) and the North Trace 145/45, I'm easily cruising and jump at 11-12 knots.

I have a peak 5, 5 & 8m. Still I haven’t use them on water since I have big Lei kites. But I was wondering if a 2,5m & 13m would be a good addiction for the super windy and low wind days (both at snow and sea)
@TheOKKiteboarder
@TheOKKiteboarder 10 ай бұрын
In my experience, the 13m is just too large on the water, especially in gusty conditions when the low is very low and then it maxes out very easily. I think the 2.5 would be a good decision though.
@knutSchevik
@knutSchevik 10 ай бұрын
@@TheOKKiteboarderthanks for the feedback. Ok so a 2,5m for snow & water. & for the low foiling days i can still keep using my big Strutless Lei kites. I have even a 19m strutless 😅 but it deforms a lot and the canopy can get inverted easily. Relaunch almost impossible.

Fuck tampons with strings had them more work then it’s worth since using UFOv2 tampons are now used in construction make great drop clothes UFO will out perform tampons for 90% of kite foil riders plus tampons you always have to adjust the pulley system where inflatables as long as you on the kite. It’ll always fly right has for your harness majestic they never ride up

@@TheOKKiteboarder I meant when you are starting. It seems to me that it might be easier to get a hold of the board when you are trying to get on it or when you are trying to body drag out to deeper waters. I tried yesterday without straps and was a complete fiasco. I couldn't do either.

I’m on a 7’10” 21” DW with 127 liters. I now have 6 session which are limited to about 30-45 min before exhaustion and the walk. I can get to my front foot consistently but as soon as my rear foot touches the board, I’m off the heel side, same thing repeated every time. There is micro success every attempt but two walks up the beach render me wasted. I even had a buddy hold the rear of a wider 8’ board, stood for 5-6 seconds (my record) before falling. I’m 72 200lbs maybe 210 with gear. The word frustrating comes to mind until… everyone I talk to says is a two month process to foiling.

Hello Kyle! Thanks in advance for your increíble reviews. If you can please give me some advice. I'm planning yo Buy a kujira 1210 for wingfoil BUT y wonder if i can use it for kitefoiling as well. Im am 80kg and intermediate kitefoiling rider on a cabrinha hirise lift 900. I know from what understand from your review on youtube, that kujira 1210 works well 100% for wingfoil. but i what % does it work well for kitefoiling in your opinion? my expectation is that if it works at least an 80% well thats ok for me. Thanks in advance!
@TheOKKiteboarder
@TheOKKiteboarder Жыл бұрын
Matias, it would be a lot of lift for kitefoiling. I would recommend if it’s in your budget to add the Kujira 980 front wing to the quiver and you could kite with that and also wing with it in higher winds. You definitely can kite the 1210, but it’s not ideal.
