Hi Gabriel, yes the switch on the left control alters the torque of the slew motors. Similarly on the opposite side of the controls there is a switch for the hoist which works in the same way and allows the hoist speed to be adjustable.

Hi are all Potain cranes got limit on the slev and is crane fitted with auto level luff? Great video, thank you.
@fortrucksake2 жыл бұрын
Hello, I haven’t driven one with a slip ring so they have all been limited as to how many times you can 360 on the slew. I was told that they can come with a slip ring at extra cost but I haven’t used one myself. I believe some of the newer luffing cranes have auto level but again I haven’t used one. Auto level takes away part of the skill. If you want an easy crane life you need a trolley jib.

If I remember correctly on the Wolff it is not necessary to hit the red button before putting the crane in free slew. I’ve not operated a Wolff for a good while now but the Potain that I do operate does require the power to be switched off before you can hit free slew which I did find weird.

@fortrucksake3 жыл бұрын
Michael there is pretty much no difference. When you’re focused on your load and /or the block it doesn’t matter what type of jib is above. Some luffers require you to need both hands on the controls as the movement of the jib up or down requires hoist in the opposite direction if you want to keep the load level. Newer ones self level and some are better at it than others. This one will self level but only when you go real slow which as I’m sure you know at times can be a real pain.

Hi. Thanks for sharing. Getting my course done in January '2020 up in Norfolk (i live in London). Currently a telehandler on the ground but want to get myself into cranes as I think they will be a "cleaner" alternative to driving and mucking. Cant say I got a head for hight's much however really hope that I can start on ones a little lower to the ground. How long have you been doing cranes for? Any tips? Thanks again.
@fortrucksake4 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel. Good luck with your crane training in January. Just remember that we never stop learning no matter what our experience levels are. I’m not sure about cleaner lol I’ve worked on some pretty mucky sites. Remember you need to get to the crane every morning and in the initial stages of a build that ground can be real muddy. That being said once you’re up you’ll be warm and dry all day which the guys on the ground will be envious of. I’ve been in the crane world now for 5 years and I also work as a crane supervisor as well as an operator. The crane industry is great but has its fair share of gods that know it all and think they are better than everyone else. Just ignore them, do your thing and be the best you can for yourself. Just because we have a higher viewpoint doesn’t mean we need to look down on others. All the best pal 😀👍

Hi dude, since you're working in the UK, did you get your license there? I'm a tower crane operator myself and I was wondering if they'd accept my Hungarian crane license or I'd have to go to a conversion course or something in order to be able to work there? Thanks :)
@fortrucksake5 жыл бұрын
M G Horvath to work in the UK as a tower crane operator you need to pass a CPCS course. There are 3 centres. One in Glasgow, one in Sheffield and one in Norfolk. As far as I’m aware there are no conversion courses but if you are already working as an operator then it should be no problem for you. Judging by the standard of some of the cowboys with crane tickets it might even be possible to get one in a Kinder Egg. With the political situation in the UK regarding exiting the EU, I would think Germany as a far better option. There are cranes everywhere. I might even go there myself. Good luck.
@mghorvath795 жыл бұрын
I've been thinking about Germany as well but unfortunately I don't speak German and most companies require you to speak it on at least B1 level. If you decide to go there for a change good luck, we might just meet someday at a site :)
