Wouldn't that be D-G-C-F-A-D? You got an extra D in the middle there. It absolutely is

This was really great,. Some tabs I found used a G9 chord, but I'm glad to see a normal G sounds just as good.

Even though Keef plays those power chords up the neck in the intro, I like to play it down in the first position because I think is sounds better especially with a bit of slap back.

That was fantastic Matt, love acoustic blues with the thumping bass. Love Lightnin' and Big Bill Broonzy! I Never knew about the Lightnin' movie from 1967, so thanks for that, I'm going to check it out! 👍 🎸 🇨🇦

The intro is finger-pick/finger-pulls on two strings at once. You're pulling the two wound G (or A's in this case with the capo) strings at the 3rd fret and then open... then fret the two low/wound D strings at the 3rd fret, back to the 3rd fret G/A string-pulls to open A ...repeat that 2-3 times... but, pulling only those pairs of strings together throughout the little opening riff... it stops with the two A strings pulled open, twice

Lou Reed said this about his Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar: There was a guy named Dan Armstrong, and he wired that thing up nice. And then I went to San Francisco and met an electronics guy there, and had a repeater [i.e., echo] built into it, among other things. So I could seem to play faster than I really could.

This is a nice lesson, providng a solid framework while studying John Jackson's performance. Thanks for posting it Matt. Jackson runs through some interesting ways to get around and improvise the A,D,G,C motif.

Three-chord blues songs and licks usually bore me to death, but something about your playing makes it come alive. I might have to sit down and learn this one. By the way, do you ever play that particular guitar with more than six strings on it? I have a love/hate relationship with 12-string guitars. I noticed you have a copy of Terry Jennings' book "Waylon: Tales of My Outlaw Dad." I just finished it a couple weeks ago. What a fun read!
@4runner394 ай бұрын
That Waylon book was great wasn’t it ? That’s the kind of country I get into , along with Willie , Johnny cash etc.. I had that set up as a 12 for awhile but wanted to do more bends so made it into a 6 . It sounded great as a 12 string though, just tougher to play

Great playing! I stopped in Guitar Center last weekend and the speakers were blasting CCR's "Ramble Tamble." I couldn't believe I'd never heard it before. If that song ever got in the wrong hands, it could blow up the world! If anybody could teach humanity how to play it accurately and responsibly, it'd have to be Mr. Matt Ferrucci!

I'll have to look into that ! Thanks for the request
