This is why westerners likes to have filipino nurses. They dont complain much (especially, small things like nicknames or etc...) and does a good job too.

Is… is this a nurse? My mom is a nurse And this is extremely inappropriate if she actually said that to her patient You can either tell that sweet old lady your damn name and inform her you’d prefer to be called by it Or you can shut up and answer when your patient is calling for you That’s basic bedside manners especially for elderly patients who are just trying to be sweet to you I can understand wanting to be called by your name That’s completely fair What is not fair is being condescending and rude to an elderly patient and NOT RESPONDING when they’re calling for you It is your JOB as a nurse to respond when you are called for Do you think just cuz my preschoolers call me funny names I don’t respond when they’re asking for help? No, I politely correct them, and give them the damn assistance they need Too many high school mean girls became nurses when they got older, and it seriously pisses me off, my mother is a nurse, and she would drag someone like this through the mud if she heard them talk like that My mother My grandma And my aunt All nurses And all of them know you don’t fucking behave like this to an elderly patient You can be annoyed in private But if she actually didn’t respond when called for And actually said that to her patient She needs a serious talking to by her boss

@somepersonsomewhere-kh3mt2 күн бұрын
Annoyance is understandable but that doesn't mean you couldn't have told her, respectfully that you didn't like being called that the first time it happened.
@anonymixx81062 күн бұрын
In reality, the manager should have had a policy against this ever happening between customers and employees from the beginning. There's zero need for a employee to be put in the position to set this kind of boundary.
@somepersonsomewhere-kh3mt2 күн бұрын
@@anonymixx8106 Yeah, but if you think about it, it can be difficult for a manager to do that depending on the environment. For example if it's a building with a lot of staff, it can be a struggle to manage everyone's interactions and even think of something that can potentially offend someone (everyone can get offended by anything, it's just how humans are). So I wouldn't put it all on one person, people just need to have more kindness in their hearts.
@Undergroundtec2 күн бұрын
Honestly though. A lot people lack proper communication skills. Like reasonable people will react just fine to a rational request and remember that there's always a good way and bad way to say something.

Can you tell that man to let her finish her story? Jesus Christ, he needs to stop cutting her off. And if someone wants to be called her god given name, then call her that name. I can’t imagine being such a jerk that I stopped speaking to someone because they want to be called their own name.

@@tammymomoftwo yeah I agree with you, it’s really the elderly patient thing for me. He wasn’t being mean by calling her sunshine, if it bothered her she could have mentioned it the first time in a respectful manner, instead of clapping back on him.

Can you imagine the fact that some people simply want to be addressed as they are named rather than with some weird-ass nickname just because you as a customer randomly decided that you want to feel familiar with them? I am not your fucking "sunshine" just because I work at a place that you happen to start paying for a service at. Pet names are for people you know personally.

@@anonymixx8106an old person calling their nurse this is very normal friendly behavior. if she doesn’t like to be called that it’s fine although how mad she is about it is definitely unnecessary and weird but she could have told them nicely not clapped back and ignored a patient
@anonymixx81062 күн бұрын
@@happy.heather It's called professional boundaries and I understand if you think it's acceptable for it to be pushed past just because it's a social norm, but calling someone weird for having professional boundaries just because the social norm is to not have any, is just as weird.

@@anonymixx8106dont call it professional boundaries man. she handled it every other way but professional. If she wants to maintain a professional relationship she can go to wall st. but nursing elderly people, who honestly are delighted by the presence of their nurse, you gotta stay respectful especially if there was no disrespect whatsoever.
@anonymixx81064 сағат бұрын
@@yiggawhat Just because they're professional boundaries doesn't mean the way you respond to having those professional boundaries violated has to be professional. Would it be ideal because she's in a professional setting? Yes. But it's the same as somebody violating your personal boundaries, not meaning that you have to be completely cordial with them after they do so. If you're the one who made the situation unprofessional, you're going to be the one who receives unprofessionalism. Go figure?
