One doesn't need much dialog; just the sound of everything else to make a great scene.

probably the last movie I'll see in theaters in a while. All hollywood makes it woke trash. That's why this movie was popular not just because it was nostalgia but because it put out a movie like hollywood use to. A pro america movie, I guess like comfort food it was just nice to watch something that wasn't crap.

Jerry Goldsmith scored the shit out of this movie. The music is so great, you really feel that terrifying escalation of political tensions.

If anyone here liked the intensity of this movie, I would like to recommend Black Hawk Down. Like this movie there very little chance for calm. I’d also recommend this movie for people who like the same energy in Black Hawk Down

These example recordings are not correct. The radar did not have a panoramic display. It had one for elevation and one for windage. It would be too sluggish (size) for a panoramic display.

This movie was overshadowed by Saving Private Ryan that year but this was movie was right up there with it. A first look at the Pacific war YEARS before we got the actual series. This is a great film

It also depicts the ARMY in the Pacific. When you think of the Pacific in WW2, you tend to think Marines. When in reality more soldiers than marines deployed to the Pacific. Good on the filmmakers for showing the much forgotten struggles of the US Army in the Pacific.

The Tuskegee Airmen project was a political stunt by the liberal Roosevelt Administration. It was very important to them that the program be a success and because of that it was very carefully managed. The last thing that the Administration wanted was to have these political pawns used as war fodder. That's why the operated in the less dangerous Mediterranean area instead of up North where White men were expendable and flying into the teeth of the German's still undepleted defenses.

The physical damage of the raid was minimal, but the psychological damage was massive. It sent the message that the Japanese couldn't protect their home islands and they were vulnerable to US attack. Raid was also meant as a morale booster too.
