I like my electronic lock. I usually keep the backup key on me but it's convenient never pulling it out. The one time codes are nice too. I have some one time codes preprogrammed and saved in my password manager since I didn't cloud connect my lock.
@BoredLockpickerКүн бұрын
On my front door. I used to have a Schlage BE 365. I would keep a few extra codes in there just to give people just in case and then just delete them if they use them. Works well. I have a Schlage sense on my house now that’s on the Internet that I can just do with my phone from wherever. I just put this lock on this door because they sent it to me and it had to go somewhere lol
@scotts4125Күн бұрын
In my community all the houses were came with Schlage Encodes. After a couple years my neighbor calls me and asks if I can install a replacement that Schlage sent him. His just died. I swapped it out no big deal. Less than a week later mine dies. Schlage was back ordered. I think it took 3 months to finally get it. 1 week after mine my other neighbors Encode died. That was nuts. He just got new fancy all glass doors installed. It came with some kind of Schlage electronic lock. He asked if I can rekey his garage locks. I told him we can just do the new one to match the old key but he wants it the other way around. I said I have to dig out my pinning kit and house lock stuff. He says send one of your guys. lol Ughhh I would have to pay them so I will just handle it. Neighbors too funny. I read in a forum and they happened to be from Florida. They thought it was a moisture humidity issue killing the Encodes. Apparently this is an issue with these locks. Have you seen these go bad?
@BoredLockpickerКүн бұрын
Well I’m actually in Florida and I have yet to see an encore fail so I’m not. Maybe they just had a bad batch go out. Schlage stuff in my opinion has kind of gone downhill the last five years or so.

@@BoredLockpicker I think you are in north Fl I'm down south. This community has about 600 homes. They probably ordered them in huge lots so there is a chance they had a bad batch and we were lucky enough to get them. Looking on their website his new one is either the Encode or the Encode Plus. Not sure what the difference is. Their 8' glass doors. Amazing but I wouldn't want the whole neighborhood looking into my house.

I'm going to be honest, I hate when I get a call to install one of these types of locks, especially when the customer buys it on-line etc. I can't charge enough (and they usually don't want to pay ) for the time spent on programming in everything they want including a different code for EVERY member of the house, which seems redundant to say the least. That said, I think the tech is cool and I totally get the convenience of use.

You encouraged me to buy an HU64 Lishi. I bought a MB door and trunk lock. It was a slight learning curve but I have them pretty much down. My question is I notice the locks pick one way but feel completely different going the other way. The door I can get both ways but one way feels better than the other. Not sure if most MB's trunks pick CW or CCW. I told my guys next time we get a lockout on MB to ask the customer if we can use the key to open the trunk. On my example it picks fairly fast CW but it looks like it has to go CCW. I am wondering if a plug spinner would work. Don't see why not but never did it on a car lock. Never really had to.
@BoredLockpicker8 күн бұрын
The trunk unlocks counter clockwise but it doesn’t feel like to should. If you pick it the other way the lock gets stuck and you have to pick a second time back to home
@scotts41258 күн бұрын
@@BoredLockpicker Ughhh pretty much what I saw too. They have 2 key pull positions so I know exactly what you are stating. I need to practice picking it the other way which I am having trouble with. It seems I have to put a lot more tension on it to even feel the wafers going CCW. The wrong way feels a lot better with mild tension. I did pull the Lishi out midway the wrong way that's why I was wondering about the plug spinner.
@BoredLockpicker8 күн бұрын
Since you can’t turn it back without picking I doubt a plug spinner do anything except bend the dust cover. Mercedes trunks were one inspiration for the finger saver
@scotts41258 күн бұрын
@@BoredLockpicker I can pick it in between both key pull positions and pull the Lishi out. My lock turns 180* with a key pull in the middle and all the way CW. The open doesn't have a key pull. So basically it has 2 lock positions. Finger saver might be the ticket too. I have been picking them freehand. My vise is in the garage so I have been too lazy to vice it up. It might pick easier in the vice.

Remember I talked to you a while back about the hu198 lishi. It has cuts 1 through 5 but the 2024 ford trucks have cuts 1-4. So it doesn’t decode right. Also you can only pick it in the ignition it don’t go all the way in the door locks. You got anyone on the inside to see if there going to make another version of hu198. It’s a shame because it picks so easy about the same as hu100.

@@BoredLockpicker Thats crazy I got 6 trucks they all are 2024 f250 they all are under the p series. The one with no key at all decodes perfectly as it stops right on the number. But I ran the code and no keycode came up also I tried cutting it and nothing. The bitting doesn't even look right.
