I was there, at that drum camp! Amazing to hear it live! The drum instructors, the band, just doesn’t get any better. Privileged to be there. My brother was also there and rode in a cab with Vinny back to the airport - special treat.

There isn't a better tandem in the world. There are comparable duos for sure, but none better. Talk about opposite ends of the stylistic spectrum. Chris is an absolute monster with speed, power, precision, finesse and Weckl is the king of melodic playing, fluidity, creativity and musicality. I am in awe of these behemoths.

Weckl is that nuance for all those little nooks that most will never explore due to a lack of faculty. If Dave's gray matter can conceive of it, his anatomy can accommodate as readily. No drummer who's ever lived is more apt behind a kit than Dave. Chris is equal to the task on both drums and bass. What an astounding musician Chris Coleman is. Just wow!!!

Are you kidding me??!?! Having any one of these legends in a room by themselves would be overwhelming. Having all three is almost more than my pea brain can handle. And Coleman, not enough he's ridiculous on drums, dude also ripping it up on bass??? Life so ain't fair. 😝

7:33 -Here' they actually have a quid pro quo conversation between them - doesn't it seem like that? BOTH drummers are SO tight, that when they're both playing a roll at the same time, you don't hear any "flamming" -by that, I mean their beats happen at precisely the same time, in TOTAL synch.

I'll say this about age and turning the big 6-0 as of late. It makes you nostalgic very quickly and very emotionally. If mid-life crisis is simply that cliche they point at you when you hit 5-0, then reflection is definitively 60, if only to begin the true ascension into an appreciation for all things memorial. For some oddish reason hearing these amazing favorites of mine current play amazing favorites of mine past brought back some old, amazing memories, as well as some newly found tears of appreciation for what has carried me and held me upright throughout this life. I mean, Steve, Dave, Mark, Simon paying tribute to Charlie, Ginger, Alan, Taylor and Neil??? Man, if this is heaven, do NOT resuscitate!

Just incredible. When you listen to 'Alive in America', you assume it's Dennis Chambers doing all the heavy lifting, not Peter (between the two of them who played on that tour) but this clip puts that assumption in it's place..

The tom intro was amazing. Nevertheless many drummers tried to play "Chromazone" but no one can swing the band like Dennis Chambers. The original was cut by Peter Erskine but the epic performance and the whole "China Club" concert courtesy of Dennis, Mike Stern, Bob Berg and Lincoln Goines is one of the greatest musical performances ever. It seemed they were grooving so hard that another subway stop appeared after the gig.
