I'm a fan of Lynch's version all the way. For one thing I was only 16 years old and it was still fun to go to movie theaters. And it just ask that Gothic steampunk feel to it that CGI cannot recreate.

I vastly prefer the Chani of 1984. My other issue is Paul's mom in the new one looks too young to be his mother - she looks like she should be his sister.

Personally I prefer new Chani. I think her character arc is much better than even the book.

No way. Paul in the book is a 15 year old boy. Rebecca Ferguson is 40 years old in real life and will be 41 in a few months, and if she had given birth in real life, would have been 26 when Paul was born. Not unrealistic at all. Maybe it’s because Timothée looks a bit older than 15, but in fairness, he still looks much younger than Kyle in the 1984 version, straying further from the character who is supposed to be a fifteen year old boy. tbh, Lynch’s casting choice of Kyle is one of the things I like least about the ‘84 film.. subsequently requiring the casting of his mother to look even older. And then, you’ve got Sean Young being cast as Chani. As much as I love Sean as an actress, she too was too old to play the role of Chani. On the whole, Lynch’s version just looks like a bunch of older people filling the roles of characters in a school play. I really wanted to like the ‘84 release, but Denis’ version has a much better cast overall, especially with the main characters, though, I maaay have preferred a different choice for the emperor. Don’t get me wrong.. who doesn’t love Christopher Walken, but his NY accent, while not over the top, seemed slightly out of place compared to all of the other actors voices. Small nitpick, and I know it’s been brought up by others, but if he could have flattened out his accent juuust a little more, I’d be okay with that. Great choice for the emperor’s age though for what’s that’s worth. Back to Chani.. why I just ask do you vastly prefer Chani of 1984? Just curious. And I’m not baiting you to pick your reasons apart, but genuinely curious. Thanks!

2017 version is definitely darker and has a scarier Pennywise. But the 1990 version is creepier in a more surreal way and has that old movie creepiness about it

I love the Villeneuve version but I think Lynch captured a more alien world. The interactions in it are so odd and disturbing. The Mentats and their tech, the Guild Navigator, Baron Harkonnen’s skin. It’s all underrated. I’m sad for Lynch that he feels such sadness about it. Yes, the sfx are dated and it’s not one of his best films. But still, it needs to be acknowledged for what it accomplished and how creative it still is.

...tu hai fatto un buon lavoro editando varie esibizioni,ero presente alla data di Padova ...pero' vorrei dire che questo concerto si ricorda solo per la cover inaspettata di Bauhaus qualche visuals e poco altro_mi sembravano tutti degli ologrammi più che musicisti-davvero molto poco coinvolgente.

i mean nothing beats modern CGI no matter how nostalgic the first one looks. the interesting comparison is in 40 years when dune is remade again then those comparisons will be interesting.
