I've played HOI4 for 2500 hours, and it took until recently to try GBP. I rarely choose a different doctrine now.

When playing the Soviets, I find that sending volunteers to Spain and China, the military advisors in Spain focus, and the army reformer will get me enough army experience for switching to superior firepower to be worth it.

Some movement modifiers apply when entering the relevant position and some when leaving (deep snow applies twice for some reason). Generally, weather modifiers apply when moving out of the weather, not in, and terrain modifiers apply when moving in. So maybe forts are like weather.

I can do this as Itally with 12 Littorio class ships and 24 Light cruisers. it would come out around 240k ic. Then again , i can probably drop some lights cruisers to get bellow 230k. Mind you , i am talking about ussing 1936 hulls and except for guns , fire control and radar - 1936 tech

I see this is why in Old world blues i can't paradrop my squads with 1 airwing despite the wiki claiming that they will just drop them over 1 at a time. Its quite a bit of fiddleing to get all the paratroopers over now. Wheter it is balanced or not is one thing but this is just straight up bad like that was a sensible feature they just broke.

im still very new so idk if someone can explain this to me in a more simplified manner, i usually just focus on making sure my divisions have supplies and i always just build a whole bunch of military and civilian factories, never knew i would need graphs to understand a game.

I just pick the first Naval focus as no. 2, 4 Year Plan as the 3rd focus, as the first two naval focuses are 35 days. Easy, and I get 3 docks that I need anyway. 🙂

I was trying to do the early USA invasion, I had everything ready: all naval zones are green, my invasion is ready and launched before I declare the war, but when I declare the war they don't launch because the sea zones immediately are not green anymore

Signal companies are under-rated. The coordination makes a huge difference if you’re using large divisions. For example 2 40w divs will focus fire on the exact same enemy division in a battle where the total enemy width is 80. That part is not random, the game is coded to deterministically select the lowest org enemy* in engagement width (2x your width). This ends up consistently putting you in the position of fighting less combat width than you’re fielding because the enemy is constantly waiting to reinforce. You can also cheese this advantage by starting an attack from one tile and then adding support attacks from adjacent tiles. You’ll have more CW fighting sooner and start eliminating divs before the enemy even fills the whole width *note the focus fire selection changes when armour and piercing is involved. This is actually an argument for putting signal company on AT inf tho

I think air mission efficiency is capped at 100% so that extra 25% will only help if you don't cover the whole region.

I love spotters tho. Just make spotting and artillery.

I would advise extra fuel tanks instead of drop tanks. More range, and more importantly less weight. Defence shouldn't matter since you will have fighters escorting.

Light tank recon company is not better than Armored Car... you are fucking insane. Armored Cars have more recon than any other vehicle in the game. Light tank recon is just a worse version of Armored Car, since the Recon stat is what matters for a RECON company.

I had NO IDEA I was even "anti-civ greeding" in this game before lol. I always built mils before the war because it intrinsically made sense to me. Civs are SO expensive to build, they take a long time to pay themselves back.

I just tried this with the America at War mod and it still works. If you're having trouble getting naval superiority, detach your subs and convoy raid around the Philippines and in the East China Sea. Detach some destroyers and convoy escort around the Philippines. Then put your main fleet on stike force on all of these tiles and you'll defeat the Japanese navy piecemeal.

I use 3 garrison + 3 armored car + 3 cavalry and MP. Armored cars are cheaper than light tanks to produce.
