What size of thread is commonly used in leather projects? Is it cotton or polyester? Thank you for your video

This was a finished belt and I make them double layered. It was more than likely around 12-14 oz thick

I've been using one for edge dying for a couple of years now, I bought it from Amazon. So far its been a great experience with mine, you'll probably love it one bigger jobs, it can be tough on smaller or finer items, hard to get in places that are tight. Looks good so far! 👏👏👏👏

I have a leather shoulder strap from a WW1 rifle i got at auction. The leather was dry, cracked and easily crackled and ripped with any minimal flexing. I soaked it in Neatsfoot oil for about ten minutes and it was strong and supple and I couldn't rip it at all after treatment😊

My father had all these leather tools and would carve massive purses out of leather. He was very good. at It. And when his company went on strike, he supported our family by making carved leather goods belts, persus, wallets.. These were not just names or lettering these were floral pictures or hunting or fishing scenes.

That’s awesome! Most of my work is focused around one-off floral designs. This particular belt was fully floral tooled, and then I went ahead and carved the customers name on the liner as well.

I started leather craft as a hobby,after my other business hours till late night,gave me a huge relaxation from business stress. I was really fed up with cheap quality genuine leather anf faux leather. I needed a good wallet for myself, so bought some leather scraps from Amazon, to know whether leathercraft will fit in my hands...But lately it became a passion, gave me a high level of satisfaction over each completed projects... Now it turned as a side business, for last 3 years... Still learning a lot from craftiers worldwide... My family and friends supported me seeing my enthusiasm towards the craft and leather

Thank you so much for this! I always felt curious about leather and create some accessories with it. Now I’m about to start a college project with leather, I’ve never worked with it and I’m actually kinda scared to try and fail, and it took me a while (it still triggers me at times) to accept mistakes are part of the learning process and that there’s always something new to learn. Thank you so much for your vids!!! They’re really helpful and encouraging

Love your videos brother. Hey question, can you make a video or do you have one already on how to make the , " hey dudes" custom leather shoes? And is it possible to see them without a sewing machine? Can you please reply? Thank you.

I’ve only made one pair a couple years ago and I referenced a video that Dominic Davis (D2 Leatherwork) has on KZfaq. You can sew them by hand if you want or buck stitch them. It isn’t necessarily easy, but it is possible. You might check out his video if it is still up and see if it helps.

Great video - thank you. Questions: (1) Did you treat/finish the flesh side of the leather? (2) If yes, please, what product and steps?
@Girtyleatherco
@Girtyleatherco Ай бұрын
I did not do anything to the inside of these belts; however, you could burnish the flesh side if you wanted. Similar to burnishing edges, you can use gum tragacanth, water and saddle soap, etc. with some canvas or a wooden slicker and burnish the inside fibers. I hope that helps!
