I posed these questions on one of your other videos. Did you have to do any mods to suspension to accommodate weight of camper? And do you think it would sleep 2 adults comfortably? I subscribed and liked videos.

Hi Mike. Yes, two adults sleep comfortably. And you can sit up and chat with overhead lights already installed. I made several mods just to have more storage and utility for me! No, you do not have to do suspension mods however the question is only relative when related to your own vehicle. My Jeep was fine without it. But I did add airbags that you just slip in between your springs for about $150.. They work amazingly. Just for extra ride comfort. It was a personal choice. I later upgraded my suspension to the Mopar factory 2 inch lift kit for jeep. But that was for clearance and for larger tires for traveling on uneven dirt and gravel roads. If you were only going to state parks and paved surfaces and smooth dirt trails, then don’t do anything. Again, if you’re spring and shocks are old. You wouldn’t be putting anything in your truck bed unless you maintenance your car.-right? I hope that helps. Adventure on!

Hi John, Thank you for reviewing the Rover King. I have a question if you can help me. What is the payload figure on your Gladiator (from the sticker on the driver's door jam)? Did you modify the Glad's suspension to accommodate the Rover King? I am looking at transitioning to a Gladiator from my Wrangler and am considering a Rover King. Thank you and keep the video's coming, it's great to see the Rover King in action!
@John-U-Can-Do-It

Hi Ken, the Rover king weighs less than 600 pounds with anything else added to it. As far as suspension, I put on a factory 2 inch lift that you can buy directly from Mopar. You don’t have to lift it. But if you’re going to go on adventures that include path and trails that are off-road you’re going to want to lift your truck like everybody does. The payload is 1600 pounds. But you can find that right on the Mopar Jeep gladiator website. I also put bigger tires on my car preference 35 inch. Again you don’t have to do any of those things but I like to off-road also. Enjoy and adventure on!

No, no leaks. It has an automotive style seal all around the top around the doors around the cabinets just like you would have on your car door. The import process was very smooth through an import broker, and it was shipped to the spot I designated.

There are just too many advantages to the wedge shape. Wind when it’s open wind when it’s closed. Catching more solar, The extra cabinets and much more. Good luck in your search, but I highly recommend the Roverking. I am a customer-only.

Any concerns with how hot the camper may get while parked or driving while the top is down? The only window in the box is the small one in the door, which probably wouldn't be left open while driving in order limit exhaust fumes.
@John-U-Can-Do-It
@John-U-Can-Do-It 3 ай бұрын
No, I’ve had it outside in 90° plus weather and inside the camper with everything closed, it wasn’t near 80°. As far as exhaust fumes inside, it has a regular tailgate that is up during transport. I have a carbon monoxide detector and it didn’t go off. No one rides inside the camper when the top is down. I don’t know who would actually be inside when it is only about 4’ tall when the top isn’t popped open. When the top is popped open, it’s over 8 feet tall inside, which is plenty of room to roam about . Again, it is not designed for anybody to ride or be in in the back while the camper is closed. I hope that helps with your question. Adventure on!

Im speaking as a experienced rigger, I would highly recommend, with those "helper legs" that you make the cantilever as short as physically possible. Or add more gussets. Dry load or not, that is alot of strain/ shear stress on those bolts, and whatever plate or structure you have behind it I would recommend that you go with some rated bolts ie grade 8.8 etc, that you trust to hold your investment / camper safely.

They are 17,500 base RoverKing.CA it is all aluminum, except for the tent portion, which is thick, military grade rip stock and double mesh windows, and I love the clear UV plastic window, The top is over 3/8 inch thick. I like the fact that I can take it off whenever I want and have my truck back to do whatever I want. 520 pounds-basic and then whatever you put on it from there. The four solar panels battery cabling probably added 100 pounds; the water I use 8 gallons probably added another 90 pounds. Food 50 pounds (including dog food). So with odds and sides it probably weighs around 800 pounds when it has my needs-stuff on it.

It’s totally sealed with auto weatherstripping, and nothing gets in like one of those GFC style shells and dust blows in from everywhere, through the truck bed and everywhere else. The major plus is you can take the camper off at-will and have your truck to do whatever else you want to do. Of course, if you were driving around with the top open, which no one would do. The outside gets plenty dirty, though . But who cares one power washing you’re good to go.

Hi Jack. I did the diesel heater the solar panel sink and interior storage doors also course the cabling and installation of the solar by myself. Rover king offers a diesel set up that they put in the same cabinet; I just did it myself. I’m also going to put in a removable cabinet that will go underneath my sink so that I can take it off when I not going on a super long trip and I can fold down the sink counter, to have more seating area when you’re bringing friends along. The fridge could be placed in the rear seat area of my Jeep because I did my own rear seat delete you can look up what I did. I made a tiny short video on that so that I have more storage and space. there’s so many advantages over other models of these type of campers. I like that I can take it off whenever I want to on stilts and put it away in my garage. That way my truck is mine when I want it and an over-lander, when I want it. Thanks a bunch and please tell your friends I can always help you guys out when you’re ready to build. Just giving suggestions.

You realize it is only a truck bed camper that fits only in the truck bed. However, I did install a sink 22” and the toilet could be put in, but I have a rear seat delete in my jeep for that purpose. I have a 14” x 16” cook top area. The sink folds down too. I do have a portable Fridge. A camper inside a truck bed is not like a camper that consumes all of your vehicle like an RV. But my rear seat delete makes all kinds of things possible and I could even put in a pass-through, but I’m not going to do it. I can just put my camper on jacks and then I have my truck to do whatever I want unlike an RV where your stuck with an RV always !

I chose this over all others because it is insulated really strong and all aluminum. The exterior shell is over 1/4 of an inch thick. I know this because I had to bore a hole in the side, upper roof to accommodate the addition of my solar panel cabling. I will take pictures of the inside, but right now it is very disorganized because I am installing the battery and inverter tomorrow inside along with the MPPT controller .
