It was buried along with several other buffaloes to form a barrier against the flood waters

For 70+ years buried, that is in fantastic condition when you remember that it didn`t have the thick armour of a tank.

Please please please ! can you tell me where I can go to see this ❤❤❤ I’m a born and bred yellow belly. I showed my 84 year old mother this video and she remembers hearing about the tanks being buried when she was only six years old. I’d love to be able to take her to see it.

Currently the Buffalo is in storage and being restored at facility close to where it was recovered. There are plans for a museum to house her but I’m not sure how long that would be before it will be on show . There is a local military show every year at Thorney close to crowland that if you attend you would be able to speak with the team who unearthed the buffalo as they do put on an information and fund raising stand at the show,

Looks pretty good really, they are a good looking machine. Lucky here in australia as they were sold off in the 60s, and survive in good numbers in various conditions, went for a ride in one a few years back, those machine certainly make a rackets cruising along on a lake, there was one down our back beach years back, it was being used for some beach reclamation work, the large cargo area in the back was taken up with a diesel fuel tank.

Looks fantastic .. Theres an old American Base , now an industrial park down here on the South coast that was used prior to D day .. When they left , the Americans used a Dragline excavator an basically buried a load of Shermans Jeeps and half tracks rather than take them back home to the States.. They also buried a load of Ordenance along side ...

Is this anywhere near Portsmouth by per chance? as one of my friends father (I grew up in Gosport) told a story that at the end of WW2 at the back of Portsdown hill (he lived in Southwick) when the american forces left, large amounts of equipment (Harley Davidsons, jeeps, trucks, tracked vehicles etc.) were buried in large trenches and apparently the tunnels/staircases that joined the palmerston forts (Wallington, Southwick,, Widley and Purbrook) much of the equipment was dumped in as it was deemed not worth repatriating back to the U.S.

My father was a child during WW2 and I recall him talking about how after the war the Americans dug holes in land across the road from where he lived in Brisbane Australia and drove trucks and all sorts of gear into the holes and buried the lot. I believe Toombul Shopping Town is now on that site.

Not really. The hardtop is open out the back where it meets the trunk, so when driving air flows toward the back and keeps fumes away. It was designed with this in mind.

This was fantastic! The setting, the procedure of starting, and the bike not really cooperating. I can relate to what my Dad might have experienced a time or two back in the day. Dad rode one in the war while on a temporary assignment as a courier. I have two cherished pictures of him on his WLA. I did talk to him about his adventures a little bit before he passed. I think that he really enjoyed riding it. He did say that he went over the handle bar and left his boot mark on the windshield on a slight mishap one night while off duty. The twinkle in his eyes said it all as he reminisced about his riding the 45. I’m 67 and started riding when I was about 14 thanks to him. Many thanks for sharing this video.

Thanks for sharing this Tom when I sold my Willy’s jeep I considered buying a WLA but wanted to get back into bikes again without having any hassle ( knowing how vintage stuff can be temperamental at times) so I decided on customizing a triumph bobber as a nod to WLA (video in shorts ) I imagine your dad had some incredible stories as did my father who landed in Normandy around August 44
