Check your trackpad position before re-attaching the bottom of your computer! I was so disappointed that my trackpad stopped clicking after replacing the battery. When I noticed that it was off center in its opening, I removed the bottom of the laptop, loosened the trackpad screws, repositioned the trackpad to be in the center of the opening, tightened the screws again and tested it before reattaching the bottom of the computer. Everything is working perfectly now. I just wish I'd have known to check the trackpad first. Thank you for your very informative video. Saved me a couple hundred dollars!

MacBook Pro M3 Max 14" x iPad Pro M4 13" All is working as expected, but I can't see using this feature very much. I have a separate set of keyboard + mouse oriented apps on the Mac and touch + pencil Apps on the iPad that work best in their native environments. No real reason to use touch in Mac apps, but at least nice to know I can use the pencil in Mac for signing PDFs if I need to without air dropping the document back and forth. That being said, there is a feature related to this that's very handy that I use all the time and that's extending control from the Mac to the iPad without extending or mirroring the screen. This basically eliminates the need to have the Magic Keyboard attached to the iPad and frees up some desk space.

When they got to the part of the video where they finally pull the logic board I couldn’t help staring at the wide open section of metal that is the actual back of the iMac. You know, the spot where Apple could have easily put an access panel. They have become the polar opposite of the company they once were. Great video from OWC, but there’s just way too many points where a connector is not going to come loose, or a screw will get stripped, etc. for me to justify attempting this.

@poweredbyowc
@poweredbyowc 15 күн бұрын
Your iMac will only have that option if it comes with an SSD in that slot from the factory. This would be if your iMac either had just an NVMe SSD already installed or a fusion drive installed. If neither of these came on the iMac it will usually not have the option to add it in later.

My dad’s friend said however that it should work otherwise I can use a usb which contain an update and then put it on my Mac to install. If the MacBook Air has an older operating system installed, it could be causing compatibility issues with certain apps or websites. To resolve this, try entering Internet Recovery mode and updating the system from there. If that doesn't work, using a USB installer would be the next recommended step.

I have a pair of Angel Birds, one bricks the camera on playback of footage sometimes. Yet according to your video, my cards should be compatible as well based on read write speeds. I do get the Not Guaranteed Media pop up though. Could there be something else amiss?
@poweredbyowc
@poweredbyowc 17 күн бұрын
While our video indicates compatibility based on read/write speeds, the "Not Guaranteed Media" pop-up suggests there might be other factors at play. It’s possible that the card could have a firmware issue or a compatibility quirk with your specific camera model. We recommend checking for any firmware updates for both your camera and the memory cards. Additionally, try testing the cards in another device to see if the issue persists. If the problem continues, please feel free to reach out to our support team for further assistance. We’re here to help resolve any issues you might be facing.

Have an late 2013 14.2 27 iMac with original FusionDrive. Is it better just updating the nvme to 2gb main ssd and remove the hdd. Or let the nvme as it is and just change hdd to a sata 2.5 SSD? Whats the difference?
@poweredbyowc
@poweredbyowc 18 күн бұрын
Thank you for your question! The choice between upgrading to an NVMe SSD or a SATA SSD depends on your preferences and needs. NVMe SSD: - Performance: NVMe drives offer significantly faster read and write speeds compared to SATA SSDs, resulting in quicker boot times, faster file transfers, and overall improved system performance. - Installation Difficulty: Installing an NVMe SSD in an iMac involves removing the display, which can be challenging and requires special tools and adhesive strips. It's a more complex process compared to swapping out the HDD for a SATA SSD. SATA SSD: - Performance: While not as fast as NVMe SSDs, SATA SSDs still provide a substantial performance boost over traditional HDDs. They offer faster access times and improved system responsiveness. - Installation Difficulty: Replacing the HDD with a SATA SSD is generally easier and less risky than installing an NVMe SSD. It involves fewer steps and less risk of damaging the display. If you're comfortable with the more complex installation and want the best possible performance, upgrading to an NVMe SSD is a great choice. However, if you prefer a simpler upgrade process, replacing the HDD with a SATA SSD is still an excellent option and will noticeably improve your iMac's performance. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance!

@@poweredbyowc thanks for the excellent professional answer. It I‘m right - the Fusion Drive from apple is already a NVMe installed incl. a normal HDD. I‘m not afraid making each option :)
@poweredbyowc
@poweredbyowc 18 күн бұрын
A Fusion Drive is a combination of a traditional hard disk drive and a flash drive. The key difference between Fusion Drive and SSD is the performance speed. Though Fusion Drive uses SSD to load frequently accessed files, which makes the overall speed of the drive faster than that of a traditional hard drive, it still cannot match the performance level of a pure SSD.

What is OWC's process for recovering data if something is to be corrupt? Their help page lists for a mechanical SSD failure that you get a 20% discount through DriveSavers, but nothing through the manufacturer. It's still an IF, but if/when anything happens, how much more is it going to cost users in time and $? Sony fully guarantees their media will work and provide an in-house free recovery service, albeit it comes with a higher starting price for their cards.
