Hi thanks for the nice video , would like to add a few minor details regarding Honda's CB350 , Here in the U.K the CB250 was more popular as you could ride one on " L " plates . The advertising blurb at the time stated 30 b.h.p. @ 10,500 r.p.m. Gearing in 5th was 1000 r.p.m. = 10 mph , so in theory you could do 105 m.p.h. at the red line . ( you would have to be crazy to test this theory though ) I.m fairly sure the CB350 blurb quoted 36 b.h.p. , I'm not sure the red line was @ 10,500 though ? I fairly sure my CB350 had the red line at 9,500 ? . ( CB350 liked rev,s , 6k to 9k was the power band . I preferred my m8's CL350 , It would buzz along nicely and had more low down Torque .) Ride Safe , Thanks .

Wonderful video! 💯 When I was young, I respected BMWs for their engineering and quality, but I found the Japanese bikes much more exciting. Based on your narrative, I can now more fully appreciate just how significant this motorcycle was. Even today, decade later, I’m sure it would be a joy to ride. If I had a R100 RS in my garage now, I’d probably never sell it.

Great reviews and well balanced here. I rode my '97 Connie for 14 years, until a hydrolock incident bent the 3rd connecting rod and I didn't want to go through the repair or finding an engine replacement. I loved it and we had a helluva lot of adventures, but moved onto a bit more adventure, and shed 200 pounds for a '16 Strom, which is actually great sport-tourer that easily takes gravel roads and trails. Then onto a Moto Guzzi Norge which I absolutely fell in love with. One thing led to another... and I now explore-tour off road only on a New2Me '21 DRZ400S. But if I was to return to asphalt it would be another Norge, in a shot. Cheers.

Just found your video on trailer types and suspension and found it informative. Back in the late ninetys my partner and I wished to go to Phillip Island to watch the motogp and had a crazy thought to build a trailer to tow behind our gtr 1000. Found a design that looked practical, went to a local steel supplier and they cut out the panels and welded it together. After following a few trailers noticed that the springs where not flexing much but the tyres where so made a solid axle with 13 inch tyres 22 psi . Found it to stable at any speed even hitting potholes and kerbs on purpose and found no issues at all . Cheers Wayne

Many vid voice over is rubbish or clumsy AI. Your narrator voice over work is a professional standard. (a bit like when usoft released "Word". Everyone thought they were an author. brrrr!) The "authentic" background sound track clashes with the narration and makes for painful listening. Used sparingly it would add atmosphere but this pooch nis screwed.

Nearly all videos on KZfaq make the mistakes that I pointed out; you're not alone. People who make videos don't consider what the viewer wants to see, but rather how the camera operator can be as cool as possible. And they think that being cool means panning, zooming, moving the camera closer, and showing close-ups. The more razzle-dazzle with the camera, this thinking goes, the cooler the camera operator is. In fact, that prevents the viewer from seeing whatever it is that is being videoed. It's not about the camera operator; it's about what is being videoed. Camera operators think they play a key role in the video; they don't. It's whatever is being videoed that plays the key role.

Great series, brilliant info, I notice with interest the power out put of these bikes against bikes of today has barely changed. I am currently in the process of buying the new Triumph Speed 400, which everybody is very excited about, because it makes nearly 40 HP, so 60 years forward this bike ought to make 55 HP wouldn't you think, with modern materials and all the computer aids that could be used. Have we really made any progress ? I loved my Yamaha YR3, it went like a rocket, mind you I was only about 10 stone in those days, and could barely hang on .

I had a Bridgestone 350 GTR in 1967 and rode it for two years. It was my first motorcycle and it was great. I could easily get 105 to 110 mph and it would cruise at 75 on California freeways all day. The only negatives I ever noticed were 1) the front drum brakes would fade a bit if they were used too hard (I pushed the bike to its limits), and 2) during high speed cornering the frame would twist slightly and cause the front wheel to drift to the outside of the turn. Otherwise I loved this bike ; it looked nice too when all the chrome and aluminum was polished.

It is utterly moronic to show close-ups of the motorcycles, because that prevents the viewer from seeing the motorcycle. You then compound the stupidity by moving the camera, so that the viewer sees even less of the motorcycle. You should show the whole motorcycle, unless you have a reason for focusing on a particular part of it; and you should not move the camera. Oh yes, and moving closer to a still photo of the motorcycle is also incredibly stupid and annoying, and prevents the viewer from seeing the still photo. All those things that you do are intended to make the camera operator feel important, not to aid the viewer.

A well done video of bikes from my youth. I owned an RD, and had the chance to ride several of these bikes. The GT380 was a dog compared to the RD, the GS400 was a good first effort, and surprisingly good. The S3A/KH400 was fast, but not as good as the RD. The XS400 was a bone shaker, I laughed hard hearing you say the same thing!😅 The Honda 400F is a neat bike. Those headers are cool! Back in the day, Kaz Yoshima at Ontario Moto Tech, was the 400F hot rod guy. 400F's prepared by OMT were little monsters, yet still reliable, easily ridden bikes that would challenge RD's. Thanks for the video.

Cool video! We are on our 2nd Ural Gear Up, having owned the first for ten years. Our new Ural was made in Kazakhstan and is made very well. The 2nd generation fuel injection/ignition is amazing. The engine has much better power and torque and at 55mph-65mph is smooth enough that the mirrors are clear. I maintain our Ural with simple hand tools. The most important things to do to keep your Ural reliable and running forever are to follow Ural's owner's manual maintenance. Especially frequent oil changes (3000 miles maximum) using a premium full synthetic oil with the best additive packages (Diesel rated is great). I grease all the fittings and lubricate everything regularly as well.

had an early 80s R100RS and I loved it. You could eat up the miles effortlessly and it would cruise all day at 100mph. However two things irritated me...firstly you really had to use the steering damper if the road surface got a bit dodgy, because it could throw a tank slapper if you didn't ride cautiously over loose grit, say crossing the middle of the road on a country lane. Second, with the side boxes on, it developed a weave at about 85mph when riding solo (absolutely rock steady without the boxes, though). Put a passenger on for touring with the boxes and it settled down and was good up to 120mph. I used to enjoy reeling in lads on 500s who had flashed past me crouched over the bars...over the next ten miles you could steadily pull them back just by riding steadily. It did sound like a bag of nails until the oil had thoroughly warmed up, and then it was just gorgeous to hear the exhaust note reeling out behind you . oh, I wish I still had it, but life......
