I have a bit of a headcanon that the only reason the cookies are as good as Leela claims is because Fry goes through that whole process of pressing the cookies together just to pull them apart and eat the middle only, which is by design of the cookie's manufacturer. Also I always thought the meta-joke of this whole scene was people buying unnecessary small appliances for doing really basic things they can do on their own, and with less energy needed.
