Which do you think goes better with a DP 61 on the arm, a DP 67 or a DP 58? Thanks for the excellent video and the tips... A "Salve" from Laerte from Brazil!!

I installed one on my Strat with a Bladerunner and the short screw supplied with the Mag-Lok was too short to get enough holding power because not enough thread engagement with the wood. Just not enough wood thickness in that area of the Strat body either. The screw kept loosening. A longer wood type screw would have stuck out into the front cavity and not offered much more in holding ability, IMO. I bought and installed a T-nut from the front side of the guitar and the correct length screw with a star washer to go between the head of the screw and the adjustment bracket. Now it never loosens up.

Wow, I love the tone very much. I had the area series decade ago, it didn't sound like yours, it was so thin, but lack of chime. Love the virtual vintage, it growls like a p90 ❤❤❤

Great, snappy tone! I have these pickups in a Suhr Classic S I just got, and I think the noise-canceling system in it makes them a bit muddier, but they’re still a keeper. Thanks for explaining what “low peak”means, as well, within the context of these pickups. It wasn’t clear from the other descriptions I read, and it totally makes sense now what John Suhr was going for with these.

Man, trying to figure out why my sound is coming out kinda muffled. I’m running my pod go into a Line 6 spider III. I’m having a hard time balancing the channel volume, and master volume on the amp with the volume knob on the pod go and the volume from my guitar. I have drive, bass, mid, and treble all the way down on my amp so I can get a truer audio from the pod go. Can seem to figure out how to get rid of the muffled sound. And to top it off I have to crank it almost up to 9 on my guitar to hear something,,,, if I’m on like 3 on the volume of my guitar I can’t really hear it.

How about for the songs like “Amazed”and “You are the one”… and others… is Lincoln using this same sound for them. Or Do you have a video on that as well…? Thanks in advance.

I like both the 58 and 54 pro in the neck, I have a custom 50s pickup in there that I like. Right now I have a Injector Neck in bridge, it started in neck, but was too warm in this guitar. Right now I am considering, Injector Bridge in brodge, Injector Neck in middle and a 58. Possibly a 54 pro in middle and 58 in neck. The fun of being a guitarist.

Great comparison! I like the Virtual Vintage Blues in the bridge with an Area 58 in the middle and an Area 67 in the neck. The Injector Neck works very well in the bridge, perhaps better than the HB2 if you find the HB2 lacking in top end, especially in position 2.

I am so amazed by everything you sing. You have such a special gift from God and the last time I was in Alabama I was showing your videos to my niece and I told her that I knew you and your from church and she didn’t believe me. The next time I see we’re doing a selfie. And BTW you’re really sounding great just keep the faith. I know God has a plan for you

Both sound great in all positions. I'd go with the gold guitar if I wanted all the vintage strat tones but I think the sunburst guitar is probably more versatile for a wider variety of styles and tones. Still stratty but overall fuller and thicker sounding and that bridge pickup had an almost humbucker toughness and middy crunch when you were digging in on those overdriven power chords. A more hard rock set. I've got a feeling that bridge pickup could shred if you cranked the gain.

Is your tone control a TBX, a normal tone pot or a center detent blender pot?? (I got how you loaded the neck pickup, no question there,) The original Clapton boost kit uses a TBX, the GFS wiring sheet doesn't specify anything other than 500k or 250k--

#shed spread. I just got an Eastwood 12 classic (akin to the Gretch 12). The seller put on a bone nut, flat wounds, and GF Trons. I couldn't be happier with the pickups, but I liked the sound of your Retroton. Great jangle, not at all muddy (which is expected on a guitar that cheap), and handles the tone knobs beautifully. Heaven is getting closer every day.

I'm so glad I found this video... I think that for people going after SRV's tone, the Area 61 & 58 are what they're after. They have a more open sound. But, to my ears, for sitting down and playing general blues, I absolutely love the deep, smoothness of the 54 Pro & Heavy blues. They sound beautiful to my ears. Music Man is putting some Dimarzio single coils in their Cutlass models (or they were at some point) that sounded incredible, that remind me of the 54 Pro & Heavy Blues. This was the perfect demo for guys trying to decide which one. I've got a question.... If you had a guitar that was just an HS setup (H in bridge w/ one single coil in the neck, which of these would you put in that position? I'm having a custom Tele built, with that setup, and trying to figure out which pickup to use. GREAT video....thank you for sharing.
