If wotc printed cards that did anything other than 'seek' 'conjure' 'perpetually' or spell books I don't think they would hate on it so much, but it's just turned into a half assed perennial set with just those keywords. I'll enjoy watching the trigger dumpster fire on KZfaq but you can't blame people for hating on the format especially when they don't really move the needle with buffs/nerfs like was initially teased. If you like it great, but it's not new that's it's extremely polarizing and the haters seem to be the majority

​@danielstein8769 I'll definitely agree to some of that. They absolutely over promised and under delivered on the balancing. Very reasonable critique. However, the design space for digital cards is huge and they have actually printed some very fun cards over time like rusko, jewel mine overseer, oracle of the alpha... etc. I think a lot of people decided to hate alchemy forever based on the first couple iterations and they won't try it out as a result. That's all I was getting at. They've been getting better at designing the digital cards and I think that people hate it for the wrong reasons.

@@nicholaskaeferlein4529 I don't think those cards are fun, they are all made to be abused and broken with not much effort, all using conjure. I look at the spoilers for each alchemy set and that's all it is. Again I think watching the goofiness is relatively amusing but it's not really something myself or many others are that interested in vs draft or standard, or historic where everything is busted.

Fully agree, I'm a Gen X'er who's been playing since Antiquities and I love Alchemy. Conjure, seek etc are great additions for a digital only environment. I don't understand the other person in this thread's thinking about overreliance on certain keywords. After all if I open an Alchemy pack and the rare is something that could be done in paper, i'm gonna feel pretty cheated, so of course they have a ton of a the same keywords. Every digital cardgame out there has those mechanics in some form. I also don't think the alchemy haters are in the majority at all. If they were they wouldn't keep making them. Like all haters they are just the loudest and the ones that bother voicing their opinion constantly. Ppl who like something generally comment less, this is true for anything, not just mtg. To be clear, ppl are allowed to hate it and not play it. But when they want to yuck other ppl's yum by wanting it gone, it's problematic.

@@andymion alchemy design is zero effort so as long as anyone is paying for packs they will keep doing it. Conjure, perpetual, seek, spellbooks are not 'great' designs and they can literally be done in paper with tokens, counters, or going through your library. Sure if you want some of that here or there but it is literally every card and it wasn't that interesting with the first set. There are no surprises with the card design and barely any buffs/bans/nerfs. I commented to point out why it's a polarizing format and that a lot of the dislike is more than justified. It's wizards phoning it in harder then ever. If you like it that's cool

@@crokeyz it appears that the words in one line do not connect with the words in the subsequent line (for the same chatter). I think some letters/words are getting cut off. For example, pause the video at 30:25, and you'll see.

(it's not like that 100% of the time, but seems like almost 100% of the time for all multi-line chats after just a few minutes into the video)

i'm actually pretty sure alchemy is just cheaper to play than standard. the rotation is faster and there are so many fewer cards per set. and the alchemy cards tend to be strong that a lot fewer standard cards make the deck. also the lands are crap in alchemy, so most decks go 1 or 2 color with a lot of basics.
