I was wondering if slipping back could be my problem since I was not getting good ignition the last few times. I will give this a shot before replacing the igniter.

Another important thing to perhaps carry out if you have decent DIY mechanic skills is clean or replace the OCV filter(s) - especially the "Lift" one. They are cheap to replace the filters. Monkey Wrench Racing in USA or GT-4 Play in UK stock them. Whilst at it clean OCV too with carb cleaner and electrical contact cleaner on the plugs. I would also recommend oil changes every 3000 to 5000 miles (maximum) on a 2ZZ GE.

Glad you mentioned the cams. Lotus use 5W 40 oil whereas Toyota state 5w 30. Not sure what zinc is in modern oils now but EU and UK oils tend to use more than US I believe. Zinc apparently helps protect more. So bizarre that the cams wipe on the Lotus as no doubt they use EU/UK oil with higher zinc content. Other possibility could be the air injection used in the 2005 model 2ZZ upwards. Maybe someone could verify that query?

Good vid... i paid a guy to come do this last time... the hardest part for me is getting it to slide out (dont forget there are two screws holding it in the front sides)... and my tile made a lip it had to get up and over and the power and water supply line didnt want to cooperate... pain, but once you get it out you can dry up the water... I would add that the last time the guy said it needed to be tilted toward the back more... so he did that... I may tilt it a little more toward the back this time.

I was thinking if doing same thing..but read instances where moisture is build up in the hopper lid...so the gasket would trap it, since less air flow. Have you encountered that? What state u located in btw. I'm n texas where it can get humid
