As a first camera I would say the Z5 when it is on sale for around 1100 bucks. Or try the second hand market where you can find lots of dslr's. D700 is around 300 bucks and that is a real pro camera. Age and megapixels does not matter in my opionion.

Also keep in mind that,most of the time you dont want to shoot long time because if you shoot prores422 or prores raw or n raw the files will be massive,is always better to shoot short time and will be better for ovearheat and the massive files.

Ist not a fix. Its a stupid workaround for a bad designed funktion. Same thing works far better on the z-fc. Why Nikon???

Great comparison; I love it. I have both Canon and Nikon cameras, but I always use my Nikon cameras if I want great and reliable results. I love my Z8 and cannot see any significant advantage of getting the R5 mkii. I will instead spend the money on better lenses for the Z8.

I am in love with Fuji film sims. I want the ZF for full frame and because I own Nikon lenses. How easily can I replicate Fuji film sims in a batch fashion (I am thinking some kind of LUT in Lightroom, though correct me if my technical understanding is failing me)?

I had the 1.8s and now prefer the renduring of the 1.4. I want to pose a question for you. Would you consider the 1.4’s lower contrast to be a slight advantage for dynamic range in video? Personally I think it makes a perfect match for the Z6III. The 1.8 is still a good lens, I just didn’t like its bokeh.

I was a Sony shooter for years, but trying the Zf made me buy one and become a Nikon fanboy. Both very capable cameras, but I shoot architecture and landscapes 8-10 hours a day 5-6 days a week, so weaknesses come out in those conditions! In my experience, the mirrorless Nikon autofocus system is way more quick, accurate and pliable than Sony with a near perfect hit rate even after thousands of hours of shooting. The colors and white balance of the Nikons is 1,000,000,10% better than Sony, no question! My last Sony was an R5, with 63MP, and “on paper” better dynamic range. In practice however, the Nikon’s image files (in RAW at least) have greater sharpness and show much greater dynamic range than Sony’s. Besides, the Zf is just more fun to own and use….retro, but SERIOUS instead of just a gimmick. ;)

Lumix s5ii vs sony a7iv which is best bro?

The Z6III has a faster sensor while sacrificing DR. The S5II/X is a better body for video but with a slower sensor. More professional features like dual slot recording, active cooling, open gate, shutter angle are big misses on the Z6III. The IBIS is also not up to par with the S5II. And photography also goes either way. Better rolling shutter on the E shutter modes and a faster mechanical shutter burst are advantages for the Z6III. But RAW pre burst, handheld high resolution mode in camera, better DR are also notable advantages for the S5II. The EVF is class leading on the Z6III. And most importantly there is a pretty significant price difference in most markets between these two cameras. You can get an S5II, a 20-60, a 50 f1.8 and an 85 f1.8 and still save some cash over the Z6III body only. That is some serious value.

Seems like this lens should never have been designed as a f/1.8 if it only performs well when stopped way down. Unfortunately, it’s done often for marketing reasons to claim how fast a lens you’re getting for the money. Realistically, it looks like it should really have been a f/2.8 at a minimum and maybe even f/4.

Enjoying every moment of shooting with my zf. First week it gave me trouble with the ibis. Videos were shaky. I guess its due to firmware updates. I reset it, and formated the cards. After that the stabilization of the camera has blown my mind. You can take tracking shots of subject handheld!! Which is a dream for me until now, i had canon 80D and sigma 18-35 1.8 before. But i have used sony a7m4 extensively on rent. Trust me zf's ibis when using it with s&q mode is outstanding!

Frankly Z6 series is comparable to Sony A7 series and Canon R6 series. so Z6iii vs A7iv and R6 mk2. Sony A7S series is peerless in some ways as it is 90% video centric with the 12MP sensor!

Great comparison Frames. On the AF section, I think the background was too bright for the cameras to detect the pen well. Sony has a feature I would love Nikon to adopt, which is Pre-AF, where the camera starts focusing prior to pressing the shutter button work in photo and video modes. That aids their AF system to perform better than Nikon as it's it's pretty much in focus before you press the shutter. I'm one that prefers to have the recording done internally, rather than an external drive, also, I wish they would have added active cooling.

I think the S5iix is closer in price here in the US to the Z6III. You can get a lens or 2 with the S5IIX for the same cost as the Z6III Body alone . Just my input not saying better just a killer deal .

The Panasonic system definitely looks better optimized for video. The Z6iii clip looked herky jerky even with the IBIS. The Panasonic was smoother. Also Nikon needs to fix the AF algorithm in the firmware for video. The part of the scene that is not moving is the background, while the waving pen is screaming "hey focus on me!" Seems like they can fix that with a firmware update. Don't get me wrong I love Nikon - have the Z6ii and Z7ii and love them - I don't shoot video or anything that requires blazing fast AF.

I’d say the Lumix is better if its mainly video work, it has better video focused toolset, open gate etc. If its hybrid work then the Nikon would be better.

Thanks. Interesting to see how companies adopt different approaches to issues. Regarding the auto-focus it's not a right or wrong issue, and depending on the situation, one approach may be preferable. I think Nikon's approach is better as the Panasonic can get distracted by some inadvertent object that gets in the way of the true target. I hope your model gets paid well 😄

I have and had S1R, S5II, S9, Z6, Z6iii, Z8, Zfc. I sold the Z6, Zfc, and S5II. Today at home, I have the S1R, S9, Z8, and Z6iii. My favorite is the Z8 because it is more powerful, and I am more of a photographer than a videographer. For photography, I had no affinity with the S5II, which is why I sold it. I prefer taking photos with the S1R/Z8/Z6iii and even the S9. I also have the Fuji X100vi. Well, all of this has nothing to do with video. What I wanted to say is that for photography, not video, the autofocus of the Nikon Z8/Z6iii is better than that of Panasonic.

BTW, in the video you mention Panasonic doesn't pay much attention to still photos. While I agree (and wouldn't really recommend the S5 II as a plain photo-only camera with for example Sony having tons of lenses, incl. extra-cheap ones), one should also take into account that the 6K OG video of these Lumix models are an excellent sills resource if you 1, can put up with the somewhat (NOT much!!!) worse quality 2, shoot videos to later be able to grab proper frames (that is, you shoot high shutter speeds to freeze motion / avoid camera blur). I've been doing this for ages - that is, I shoot video 99% of the time, with sufficiently high shutter speeds and later grab the frame I also want to distribute as a still photo. These 6K OG videos are of extremely high image quality - if I can choose between shooting a video I can also publish, unless it's extremely dark or I need 96 Mpixels, I just shoot video and grab stills later.

I do like that you can record video to two cards at the same time on the Lumix and that it has a shutter angle. However, the Nikon is a better ecosystem that would be even better if it had access to full-frame Sigma lenses.

Easy: if you need non-cropped 4k60 or any kind of 4k120, get the Nikon. Otherwise, get the Lumix, particualrly if you're outside the US. You WILL love the 6k Open Gate. (The Nikon is almost twice as expesive as the S5 II outside the States.)

Maybe the auto-focus on the X-T5 is much improved over the X-T4 but with the price of the X-T5, the cost of Fujifilm lenses and Fuji still having autofocus issue in comparison I've gotten rid of most of my lenses (1 left), my X-T4 and just my x100F left to be sold. I've happily purchased a ZF + 40mm for less money than I would have spent to purchase the X-T5 body only. I'm plenty happy with the feel, the color and especially the autofocus on the ZF. Extremely happy now whereas I was becoming pretty miserable with Fuji AF-C autofocus. Great comparison and as always, great videos.

I am a sports photographer so I'm really curious about the AI technology in the Canon R5 II specifically for volleyball and basketball. If this technology follows the players that currently have the ball as they are stating it will then that will definitely be a game changer! I have been able to nail great shots with the R5 but if the Mark II has advanced technology such as that then this will definitely be helpful.

Ist there a "clicking Sound" in the Lens when activating/deactivating Image Stabilisation? I have that Sound withmy Z5 and when using other lenses with Internal stabi with my zf. But in the Combination zf with the Tele Lens there is No Sound, wondering If the cam doesnt recognize the Lens properly
