It's a stage play, however ig it could fall under the umbrella term. Also, most Japanese stage plays doesn't matter if it's an anime adaptation are actually good and sometimes even excellent

Hey guys, there's two tendencies that we must refrain from falling into when discussing about the CSM anime (or any anime by MAPPA, or actually all kinds of anime in general): One is to automatically label anyone who gives a fair and normal criticism and feedback about the CSM animation as ungrateful and MAPPA haters. This is actually doing a great disservice to MAPPA who wants to improve and take in feedbacks. The other one are those CSM manga readers who are genuinely ungrateful and sour about the CSM anime because they've had way too high expectations and fantasies on certain scenes. Let's try to lower our expectations first, watch the anime for what it is, then give a proper feedback without basing it on unrealistic expectations. MAPPA's CSM anime adaptation is not perfect. I myself have some problems with it, and this comes from someone who has watched the CSM anime first before reading the manga (so I have no prior expectations about some scenes). My main problem is just the directing style of MAPPA, the same problem I have for their adaptation of AoT S4. Another problem that I sympathise with Manga reader is that the anime somehow loses the charm of Fujimoto's art style, especially the eyes and wacky facial expressions. Last one is how MAPPA always makes the trailer entirely different than the actual anime. Of course, I don't really mind for CSM but I can't say the same for AoT S4 (War Hammer titan scene and the Eren jacket scene). Yes, we all have different interpretations about Fujimoto's CSM, and that's alright. You should express how you view CSM and I'd love to hear or read it. But, we must first refrain from these two stupid tendencies which only causes more stupidities and unnecessary drama which some Anime YT commentators love to feed on for their content, which in turn causes stupid misunderstandings about an issue that was never an issue to begin with.
