Thanks for saying that the 1953 graffiti isn't super old -- it was put there two years before I was born, so your comment makes me feel better. 😁

ure safe if they are even still functional u need a blasting cap to set them off
@AbandonedMines694 күн бұрын
90% of the time they are inert. It’s that other 10%, and if so it can be set off very easily. If the nitroglycerin has crystallized the slightest touch can set it off.

@@AbandonedMines69 looked this up apparently if they are old enough this is true I learned something modern dynamite is much more stable but you are correct if these sticks are from a certain era they absolutely could be unstable thanks I learned something and I was mistaken in my understanding of older forms of dynamite.

What purpose are the two guys wearing face coverings? If it is for COVID-19, they've probably already have had it 2-4 times like the rest of us. Let go of the fear!
@Kennerunderground5 күн бұрын
Haha no it’s not for that I can assure you. It’s more of a personal preference thing. Some of these mines can kick up a lot of dust after you’ve walked through them

With the orange chalk or spray paint on the walls, how do you know for sure that this mine is from the late 1800’s? Are there any records that date the mine?
@Kennerunderground9 күн бұрын
Yes, we date mines with online data. Though sometimes you can also get a rough timeline by finding artifacts if there are any. Online data is the most accurate

wow ive watched A LOT of mine exploring videos but this mine was easily the coolest looking. all the open stoping and stolls wow. where is this at??? i would love to see for myself
@Kennerunderground15 күн бұрын
Thank you Bryan! Yea this was a cool one. Look out for a return vid! This mine is giant. Unfortunately I can’t give away the mines location but we are deep in the southwest here
@alyssafernandez39119 күн бұрын
May I ask why you’re unable to provide a general location for those of us only looking to research the history behind it without visiting?
@Kennerunderground9 күн бұрын
@@alyssafernandez3911 Unfortunately there are just too many people out there that don’t understand history and preservation. For the protection of these sites, it’s just easier to leave out the name and location. I wish I could share more information, but I know what happens if too much information gets out..

You guys realize that the date on that newspaper of June 24/25 1917 was the actual date that the first US combat troops landed in France WW1!? WE declared war on Germany on April 6th 1917 and it took a bit to gear up for the conflict but yes that date found there in that mine was literally the same day that the first us troops arrived in France. Very interesting and awesome to have found that down there!
@KennerundergroundАй бұрын
Wow, I knew that the date was pretty significant but I didn’t know the exact history surrounding that date. That’s pretty amazing isn’t it? These mines are like time capsules. Nothing much ever changes in here unless there is a collapse. It’s pretty amazing, thanks for pointing that out!!

Levi Strauss S.F. might be very interested in those jeans. The great San Francisco earthquake/fire of 1906 destroyed Levi's earliest jean patterns. Levi's have been on a serious quest for finds like this.
