I'd say grab some extra clamps and clamp it. Mine never rattled at all.

Ran my f150 coyote down to 2qts of oil when it suddenly started burning massive amounts of oil. 1qt every 250 miles. Sent it to the dealer who sold it and he sent it to a third party for "engine cleaning". Came back with a very slight knock. Stopped the oil burning though. Now 10k miles later the knock suddenly got much worse switching from pennzoil to the new valvoline clean and protect. Gonna switch back and hope the oil was the cause.

It's a flaw in the motor. Mine was a pita to diagnose. Got tired of the horrible ticking when at events and drive throughs. This by any means isn't a normal tik as Ford claims to be. Lmk how it turns out.👍🏽

Paying closer attention the knock seems to come in a set of 4 knocks at a time, around 2 per second. Then usually a few second gap and 4 knocks again. Sometimes no knocks at all and sounds like a very healthy engine. No knocks ever above 2500rpm and one place around 2200 where it knocks under light load until around 2500 rpm. Seems to get worse with hotter oil, and hotter temps outside. I am almost sure this is something to do with timing or low oil pressure. Timing because it is inconsistent and low oil pressure because it happens at idle. I have also heard these engines can over heat the oil. Maybe I am seei g that which would explain the sudden difference in oil. Since it is hot out I am gonna throw in 10w40 Mobil 1 high mileage synthetic and see what happens. Then prib end up back with Pennzoil 5w 30 ultra plat for the fall and winter months. Will give update.

What are you running for oil in thus new engine? Weight and type. I just installed my 3rd 5.0 2012 and this time im trying 5w-30 instead of the thin 5w-20. They say these engines are tough but im not seeing it. Nice truck by the way

I checked the installations instructions provided by KSP and it states the adjustable end is located on the rear axle of the vehicle. Are you going to flip yours around?

I’ll add to my comments. When I take the Mav through the carwash, a slight amount of water does get in by the tailgate. But not that much. It’s certainly not a major problem. For the $1,001 I spent on it, I’m very pleased with it. It’s a quality product that I expect to last the life of the truck. You can spend much more but I don’t think you’ll get a better cover.

11-14 f150 Coyote engines had an issue with sunken intake valves causing misfires. Compression check is a must. A low compression misfire

@@Uranium21 the only thing I've done is switch to 5w30 oil, it definitely helped the ticking, but doesn't take it completely away..... ford will tell you the ticking is a normal operating condition but I can't see how that could be normal???

Lifter tick. Common in Ford modular engines. Im assuming you have high miles on it. If there is no damage to lifters, you might want to look at using the correct weight of oil if you are using a heavier oil than recommended by manufacturer this can be part of the problem. Also, might want to look at upgrading your oil pump to highr pressure and volume. Melling i think offers an upgrade.

That's a hard one. My conclusion was the timing tensioner guide. It was snapped in half in which led me to believe was the tic! But I didn't feel like dealing with it. So I just bought a new motor. Dropped a mustang ermine in it.

Why can't you just replace the rod bearings and sand the imperfections(if there even is any) off the crank? The cranks are durable as hell on these things, ive seen multiple guys get away with doing this. You just drop the k member, drop the oil pan, and pop off the bearings, sand with paper and shoe lace, replace bearings, and presto. Rod knocko-nomore-o
