Can you use a force plate compactor instead of a tamp?
@TurfaceAthletics Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. It saves a lot of time and energy over using a hand tamp. The process will be the same for blocks or bagged clay. The key is to make sure that you are forming a solid sheet of clay regardless of the type of clay you are using.

How do you soften up the clay brick when they are very dry?
@TurfaceAthletics2 жыл бұрын
The key is re-hydrating the blocks. If they are in the ground, you just need to flood the blocks and give them time to absorb the water. Depending on how dry they have gotten, it will take a couple of days. If they are not installed, the best thing to do is to put them in a wheelbarrow and again flood them and allow time for them to absorb the water.
@cdbrown302 жыл бұрын
How long does it last?
@TurfaceAthletics2 жыл бұрын
It depends on many factors; however, proper installation and maintenance is the key to extending the life of the blocks. Make sure to keep a tarp on them to keep them moist and pliable.

At 47:17 - the pic in the lower left corner shows the hand drag with the leveling bar flipped over, so that the "flat" angle is on top of the mesh. Is that the way you typically use that tool? Excellent webinar - tremendous amount of useful info!
@TurfaceAthletics2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the stiff drag is used with the aluminum bar touching the ground and the stainless steel strip up. You want the back two or three squares pulling conditioner. If you flipped it over, you would be pulling too much material and the screw heads holding the materials together would dig into the skinned infield.

Wouldn’t the blocks deteriorate from cleats just after a few games??
@TurfaceAthletics5 жыл бұрын
No. The blocks are pre-compressed and have a high density for increased durability. This is exactly why you would use them in these highly worn out areas. MoundMaster Blocks been installed at every level of play including the Major Leagues. They are not maintenance free - there will still be slight wear areas that need to be repaired after a game; but this will significantly reduce holes in the mound and batter’s box if properly installed.

I wish they had turf on fields when I started playing slow pitch softball in college and for years thereafter. In baseball, the pants and the decent infields we played on kept the back of the leg "strawberries" to a minimum. Skinned knees? Well, that was another story. But in softball, those city league fields were unmaintained and abused. Plus, they were in areas (where I played, anyway) that flooded. Sliding on those fields was often torture. Thank God they came out with what we called sliding shorts (short tights; Bike made a pair then everyone came out with a lycra pair, but those weren't as protective). Didn't help the knees but I learned to slide without doing too much damage. Had we been on turf, the occasional rug burn would have been the worst of my worries. At any rate, is Bike (the company that made jocks and stuff) still around? Probably bought out by someone.

After conducting an infield test in 4 separate locations on my field, I have found that the field is 55% sand, and 45% silt. Should I put a top dressing such as Turface on it instead of adding clay? Northern Kentucky
@almostfm6 жыл бұрын
Speaking of hard infields, up until about 1980, Dodger Stadium used a mixture that contained about 70% crushed brick and it was as hard as, well, a brick. When they finally went to a more conventional mixture for the skinned part, a reporter told a player from another team that they had softened the skinned part of the infield. Reportedly, the player replied "What did they do? Pave it?"

What is the difference in between turface mvp and this turface product? Also can turface quick dry be used as a surface dressing.? This is for our backyard baseball field batters box and baseline
@ProfileProductsTV9 жыл бұрын
Numis Mm Hello, Turface MVP has a slightly larger particle size compared to Pro League. This larger particle distribution still provides excellent water-holding capacity to prevent rainouts and allow you to manage moisture on the field effectively. Pro League does come in a variety of colors if you are wanting to add a unique look to your field. We do not recommend Quick Dry as a topdressing for the infield. Quick Dry contains extremely fine particles that absorb puddles that may form on your field. Pro League or MVP is recommended if you are looking to have a smooth playing surface on those areas. Visit our website for more details and videos, and feel free to contact us with any other questions!
@jordanroberts15198 жыл бұрын
+Numis Mm MVP is a general version of the Pro League. Pro League comes in 4 colors and is a more unified particle size, where as MVP is more varied. In my humble opinion, don't ever bother with quick dry. It does not compact into the infield surface ever, so it just blows around a lot. If you have puddles, you should: 1) Use the calcined clay of MVP or Pro League and 2) re-grade your infield.
