My grandmother taught me this song back in the 50's. She was born in 1899, in Witchataw Falls Kansas, and moved to wilbur , Oregon, by train, with her family , in 1906. Turkey in the straw, haw haw haw, turkey in the hay, hey hey hey, well a bullfrog will dance with your mother in law, when you play a little tune called Turkey in the straw. This sounds just like it should sound.

Absolutely brilliant, Eric! 👍 If you were playing this version of Turkey in the Straw on stage at any Bluegrass Festival here in the USA, there would be lots of hand clapping and foot tapping from the audience, and there would be cloggers (flatfooters, buck dancers) dancing to it. 👍👍👍👍

Are you familiar with the American ice cream truck? When I was a child in the 1980s, the ice cream trucks would play this song and all of the children would beg their parents for money and go running to buy ice cream from the truck.
