You can literally see after Kenny Omega comes in & the Bucks show up that the spots get more & more dangerous & outrageous to the point where it is only a matter of time that careers are shortened. There is simply no need to hurt yourself for real in a worked sport. The modern style is a joke. There are tons of matches in the 70s 80s & 90s that incorporate plenty of high spots where you don't have to use repetitive use of them to get a match over. If you DO take a bump on the apron, that's the finish. If you DO take a bump on 17 chairs... that's the finish. The idea that these are TRANSITIONAL moves ruined careers, & the idea of the work. This is part of the reason I got out of the business in 2007. There was this indy mindset even in front of 50 people (& I was NOT taught this way) that if you didn't do a triple moon sault onto the chairs that you weren't working, & it made it harder & harder to get booked. I loved wrestling, but I didn't sign up to end up paralyzed. Even with my style (more of a Benoit type) I still had my neck & back destroyed in 3 places & I'm pretty sure I have CTE. When I die my brain will be donated to science to find out for sure. Losing your own mind while you're in your 30's to 40's isn't fun. I wish promoters, wrestlers, fans & everyone involved understood this isn't necessary by ANY MEANS. This is why they tell you to "slow down kid" you don't need to draw money that way. It's not a personal attack. It's for you own good. Even guys like Piper don't live to 70 & they didn't do half the crap you did.
