What vehicle were you driving in this video? I have an ALL-wheel drive 7-passenger SUV with about 30-inch tires with enough sidewall no low profile tires.
@DouglasVanBossuyt5 ай бұрын
This was a number years ago so the road may have changed. The vehicle was a second generation Subaru Forester that was lowered and had about four inches of ground clearance.

Only question I have about these bikes, I am 6'5 and I would love to know if I would fit without my knees being jammed into the fairing. I sold my 5th gen goldwing for that same reason. From the backrest for the driver to the fairing I would need more than 26 in
@DouglasVanBossuyt Жыл бұрын
I'm not near my bike for a few days so I can't measure but you might ask that question at the iPCRC mailing list. If you Google iPCRC you should find it. Fwiw, I'm 6'2" with a 33" inseam and fit okay. You might need to add a cushion to the seat or redo the seat and add extra foam under the cover. But you can probably make it work reasonably well. There are also handlebar risers available and if you're willing to lengthen cables and hoses, you could add a few inches of rise beyond factory. The real difference for me is having a set of Mick-O-Pegs on my PC. It lets me stretch out on the straights.

Neat bike… always thought thePC800 was a bike ahead of it’s time.. upgrading to fuel injection makes sense and would have been one for the many improvements that Honda probably added if it had continued production.

that mic needs some protection from the wind, there is not much else to hear except that wind like thunder. i like the Honda Pacific Coast, nice to see other places where that bike rides. i would have liked a free view over the sea at the road, but its all foggy, maybe another time.

Hi Doug, >>THANK YOU<<, I'm late to this party, but I really enjoyed your EFI series. I'm the owner of a nice lo miles 1990 PC w/ FM. It's been sitting for 5 years since it developed a fuel leak & parked. I recently got a like-new 2015 Bolt-R with only 89 miles on the clock as my friend had a rotater cuff that kept him from riding & so he he had a stable of other new & vintage bikes he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I have been patently waiting for an aftermarket EFI kit that was ethanol friendly to replace my PC800 carbs, but have not seen one yet. I am not so impressed w/ the EFI on this Yamaha . He swapped on a Vance & Hines slip-on open muffler + I added a Cobra/ K&N filter which likely leans it. My only complaint is it seems to be too lean just off idle as I engage the clutch, otherwise it's OK. I crew for NHRA/SCTA/Drag Week cars & they have good experience tuning 500+ turbo EFI stuff for Drag Week & Bonneville. They recommend looking into carb repair/upgrade vs EFI conversion hassles. The PC800 has a set of good salvage carbs , as 1 of the original carbs developed a crack, so swapped them & I still have those. My local dealer said PC cards are not available [i don't know if this is still true] I am set to be retired in a couple months & hope to get around to getting the PC back on the road. Again, THANKS for all the good video. P.S. I also have a parked 2001 Suzuki Savage 650 w/ leaking carb ugh.
@DouglasVanBossuyt2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad the EFI video was useful! I ended up going back to carbs after a while because I could never get the tune quite right. But I think if you've got a shop that does EFI tuning, you should be able to get it dialed in. Otherwise just grab a pair of used carbs from eBay and they should work fine after you clean them.
@scotts.76622 жыл бұрын
@@DouglasVanBossuyt EFI is great for managing blowers & turbos. Naturally aspirated engines like a good carb as well. Getting a tune is easier too. As noted my PC feels better in 1st gear as the clutch engages where my EFI Bolt-R seems less capable or goes lean as the clutch engages like left turns, from a stop, in traffic. Iv'e had some balance probs as the clutch engagement zone varies at low revs. BTW the Bolt-R does not have a tach...yet

2022 and the guy in Ukraine is still selling the complete rack on eBay, even while his country is at war. This was the only review I've found on it. I was wondering about that lower rack mount. Still on the fence about drilling wholes in a beautiful trunk that is currently water tight.
@DouglasVanBossuyt2 жыл бұрын
I haven't had a problem in about ten years of the lower rack being drilled through the trunk lid. As long as you use a drill bit that's the right size, there's very little space for water to get through.
@dirtbikedave2 жыл бұрын
@@DouglasVanBossuyt the seller doesn't mention any welding requirements, like I found on your installation page. Was that something you added?
@DouglasVanBossuyt2 жыл бұрын
@@dirtbikedave for the lower rack on the pc800, I think I remember the instructions saying you don't have to add on the welded attachment point but that it makes it much stronger. My buddy did the welding in about five minutes using a cheap harbor freight welder. It was really easy.

It worked okay but to make it work well requires a Dyno. I just don't think it's worth it versus buying a modern fuel injected bike. So us die hard PC800 enthusiasts have to keep on keeping on with our carbs.
