PPS what mouthpiece are you using on the Recital Clarinet. Thank you

At that time it was probably some type of Hawkins piece, but I am sorry to say we do not quite remember the exact model.

are these the brand new releases that Babbitt just announced this year at NAMM? I knew that they had a few, but I thought they were tenor. I’m excited if this indeed is something that is going to be for sale through Babbitt as an alto release .

Hi Sean, that one was actually a vintage one from back in the day.

Lovely sound, dude. That's very close to my mk vii tenor serial number (265xxx). Does that one have the M prefix? I also use an Ottolink 7*

Wow! Great review. I'm an accomplished trombonist with a stable of antique trombones (some of them do smell like a rare book store now that you mention it). I'm getting my wife's 1920 Martin Handcraft C-melody fixed up and set up. For what it's worth, I like the sound of the 85 slightly better on your horn. Seems like the overtones line up a smidge better, but they both sound great. Question: did Zach set the forked-fingering Eb trill key up the play as designed, or reverse the spring to keep it closed all the time? I know different players and restoration techs have their own opinions on that key on old horns. My wife's Eb key is currently held closed with a wine bottle cork, but I'm hoping to get it regulated to work as designed when we finish setting her horn up. Nice vid and what a great sounding horn and fine playing! Nice job!

Thank you. Short but sweet. The number one clarinet in the world. I wish mine was silver plated. They didn’t do it in those days. -1970 s. My pair still work great. I’ve had cork pads in them. God bless you Bill. Uk

Its interesting because the longer I listen to the Mark VI especially there is no inherent advantage to C-melody. James sounds great but eventhough we mostly only hear him on P Mauriat these days it honestly doesnt quite sound as amazing as he normally does (as amazing as it is). The extreme bottom and the left hand second octave seem problematic intonation−wise and stability-wise. I can see why people didnt buy them.

Absolutely man ..... in 90s he sounded even better on Cohn and selmers mark 6 and serie 3 ( black one ) Don't you know which melody sounds first?)
@mambojazz112 күн бұрын
@@llm468 No in the 90's James used Lawton mouthpieces with all Yamaha Custom saxophones for soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone he endorsed it. He sounds better now on Mauriats but that could just be he is a better player now.

Videos from 90s : " Laura" - Conn Chu tenor Newport jazz - Selmer mark 6 silver " pick up the pieces " - selmer serie 3 black A few other concerts from 97 - soprano selmer serie 3 " I wonder where our love has gone ...." - Conn Chu Berry To me he sounds the best on selmers ... more brightness...@@mambojazz1

I’ve been playing mine for some years now and love it. With the Roo pads and the way it’s setup it requires very little maintenance. I can attest to the sound and feel of the instrument. It’s excellent.

I did a written transcription of Bob’s solo on this tune then memorized it… i think that’s the key to doing your own explorations on a standard like this, using a few of the masters’ motifs as a springboard, it really opened up the tune for me… thanks Bob and Russ!

Hello Ben, a nice presentation, thank you very much! I own a Selmer Bundy tenor with the serial number 363.4XX. According to the list, from 1960. So before Selmer took over Buescher. I read that Buescher built saxophones for Selmer. What do you say, can that be true? Best regards from Germany, Udo
