Hi. Practicing complete abstinence for a time will help your power of self control, but it cannot be a universal path to "enlightenment" because if everyone abstained, obviously the birth rate would drop to zero. It Depends on what the “fleeting pleasure” is, it can leave a positive impact on your day and won’t make you feel pain and empty like enjoying a great meal you will feel good about that meal later on when you look in the mirror…BUT that “fleeting pleasure” that you do that leaves pain and emptiness when you look in the mirror afterwards must be stopped.
