any experienced aquascaper would know the "cloudiness" is from the dust in the sand since you did not clean off the sand before putting it in the tank, the sand does not have a "coating" on it... also the exact same reason why it went cloudy when you added the aquasoil... PREP-WORK! = less work

@aquapros I am using the Seedling in moisture method. I had an aquatic pond soil ( black soil ) bed created inside my aquarium. I intend to also have an inch thick white sand substrate on top of it. But before adding the white sand, I have planted the seeds I received from Amazon for the dwarf hair grass. Now how do I add the white sand ? Do you recommend the seeds to sprout and grow to their full length and then add the white sand, or do you recommend adding a layer of white sand now itself before sprouting begins. Kindly advise.

I was inspired , we don't have Japanese Rice here in Maryland at our box stores Petco, or Pet Smart, But I was able to find Golden minnows, I think 🤔 they are called feeders . I did get Chinese mountain minnows plus golden mountain minnows the pond can go from 73 degrees to 88 my only concern on a 90 degree day I hope my little guys can handle the heat. I have papyrus growing in the mini-pond I hope that will help to keep things cool.

The way i understand with rainbow shiners is that they get those amazing colors when they are in breeding condition so your plainer ones just might color up as soon as they hit breeding size/condition.

The tip about shopping around specifically looking for hobbyist bred fish is something I wish I'd learned sooner. The difference between what you'd find in most stores and online retailers Vs hobbyists fish is absolutely night and day. it's also a difference you can't quite comprehend or appreciate until you go down that route.

It was great fun making my dirt planted goldfish tank nine years ago. Most of the dirt is now gone but the original Amazon swords are still alive. I can’t decide to use dirt again or change to what you are doing.

My betta did something similar. I still don’t know exactly what he did, but one day I noticed he was not leaving a corner, wasn’t coming out to eat or see me. These were very unusual behaviors for my betta who was my buddy. I got him out of the corner and saw a wound near his gill and his fins were split up. He looked like he had been in a major battle, but he was in a tank with just Cory’s. So I figured he got himself stuck somewhere. In any case I put him in my small hospital tank with Maracyn. I figured it was a lost cause, but I had to try. Fast forward a week and his big wound is healing, he is back to his old self and is eating like a pig. I also bought a new tank that I have built and scraped especially for my betta so he has a place to hide and no where to get stuck. He will have a buddy as I bought an L134 Leopard Frog pleco to share the tank. When the tank grows in. I will probably add some Blue Dream shrimp from my other betta tank as well. Need to make sure there is enough -lantern cover first though. By the way, my bettas name is Titan. I highly recommend Maracyn and Fritz products, and I am not a sponsor, just someone who has a lot of aquariums and has used a lot of different products.

Great videos! I noticed you have a low tank in your fish room, maybe 8 inches high by a couple feet long. Do you have a video on that type of tank? I have been interested in setting up a small nano tank like that. Thank you.

I got a few rice fish 3 years ago and they have been breeding a few generations since then. The last generation came back really deformed. I guess it’s because of inbreeding for too long so heads up, it can happen. Once in a while buy a couple of new for better genetic diversity

Mate stop waving your hand over the fish. At 16:25 , when in the bags, they are freaking out. Again at 22:25 when in the tub. I know you talk with your hand as part of your presentation style, but you also talk about not stressing them out. You're right about buying from small breeders, but I think they are much older fish than the other ones. I would rather see them in a tank as they have more vibrant colours on the sides. Beautiful fish either way, jealous I can't get them here in Oz.

Green water is great fry food! Also, a great way to jump start a summer pond is to use water change water from an established aquarium. I generally go with a 50/50 ratio.
