@@s3ren1tyy I definitely know what you’re talking about. It’s a double edged sword because on one hand, we need people to be themselves, even if it seems “quirky” because many of us are. And we aren’t taken seriously and we really need people to be “desensitized” to it so more of us can just exist as who we are. On the other end, if we tell someone we’re autistic, all they see is what I have in the video. They assume we’re faking it or exaggerating and wanted to be quirky. People have been the way they are looong before TikTok and the pandemic and Instagram. They just weren’t seen on the internet bc we didn’t have it like that. Those people just got mistreated and it wasn’t documented. So I see exactly what you’re saying. It sucks, and in some ways it holds back progress, but I see it as necessary in some ways too

autism can also be the first example (minus the rude attitude). while breaking down stereotypes is good, putting down folks that have more visibly autistic traits or "disruptive" stims wont do much for inclusion
@s3ren1tyy
@s3ren1tyy Күн бұрын
yeah but it's usually younger people since autistic or not, everyone should be taught not to have disruptive behaviors when it isn't warranted. everyone has to learn no one gets an excuse not even autism. if someone neurotypical enough to go out, by the toys, drive to a store etc, then it's also very simple to bring along something quieter like a support plushy or a squishy or a fidget ring 🤷‍♀️
@Aneva
@Aneva Күн бұрын
@@wilburainsley4922 I totally agree. While my goal isn’t to put down a collection of autistic people, I’m making a point. The point is that people assume if we are displaying our traits, we’re doing it for attention or to be intentionally disruptive instead of just being ourselves by whatever means we feel comfortable (which is what you see in the end).
@Aneva
@Aneva Күн бұрын
@@s3ren1tyy I agree with some of what you’re saying ! Being rude is never excusable. It can be understood if someone, for example, had a hard life, or is struggling with life still. But it doesn’t excuse the mistreatment of ANYONE, especially someone just trying their best to be happy (or minding their own business). Sadly, older generations of autistic people aren’t afforded being themselves. It’s up to gen z at this point, honestly. The best part about our generation is that we fight hard to break negative cycles and stereotypes. It requires alot of working against mindsets and visual representation. While I personally only feel comfortable bringing small toys with me, it’s absolutely okay to bring more colorful or louder toys. It’s all preference. And some people really are comfortable with that. And it’s due to the positive representation of autism by others. We shouldn’t have to hide our stims, and we will slowly get to a better place- but people assume we are “entitled” and intentionally over-the-top- and it sucks. At some point things will balance out, and I will be happy when that day arrives.

@@s3ren1tyy agree to disagree there. unmasking is important to autistic people's mental health. while autism isnt an excuse to be rude, it absolutely might be a reason someone stims loudly or is "disruptive". people have different needs that you wont be able to see from an outside glance. i took a class with a guy who loved driving and stimmed by making a "ooo" sound in class. when you asked him to stop ge would, but hed be visibly distraught. you can never know what people need by looking at what they can do

Howdy! I have a very serious case! I have a friend who is disabled, severely autistic with a personal assistant who suffers from bullying, for 15 years. Because of 5 brothers who are related to him (an uncle, abusive mother, and 3 aunts). One is 46 years old, the uncle is 45 years old, the second is 44 years old, his abusive mother is 43 years old, and the last one is 37 years old. And a drunken leader who is also always bullying him. They don't have the education that he has. He finished high school, passed his baccalaureate, and is now at college in Year 2 Management. And they still have the guts to bully him? What senseless people! His grandmother loves him very much and he loves her too. But they always have to yell at him. They know that he is different from them, that he is weak and has no way to defend himself. They always call the police to assault him, to laugh at him. It's not right what they're doing to him. They bully him on purpose to make him afraid of them. They always terrorize him, won't leave him alone, while he ignores them and he stays away from them. I am outraged by what is happening to him. He wants to fight back in the sense that he wants to sue the 5 agressive relatives or a friend of him(to sue them) who works with the Ministry of Education at the County School Inspectorate for what they are doing to him. He's going to send them proof of what they're doing to him. Recordings, filming. He no longer wants to be related to them because of the humiliations he endured all these years. He is 21 years old. They also have accomplices who do the same thing to him. He Really Needs Help. And he really believes and LOVES the Creator, God. They are possessed by the Devil. You really should believe me! He has suffered enough, he wants peace and a good life. He ignores them because he is scared of them, he is aware of what they are doing to him. He can't at all! He always hides when they come. I will try to help all disabled people to have a good life. He's going to leave them after college with his grandmother, for a better place. They tell him nonsense to lure him to their dark side. He was beaten by his mother's boyfriends. She didn't raise him. His grandmother raised him. She also torments his little sister who is not autistic. I'm going to help him and his grandmother, and the other families and the female dog, get out of pain and have a good life. His 6 Kindred are doomed and dangerous. Just write to me. They are allowed to mock a severed autistic person with personal assistent? To bully him that he's different, huh? I'd say, NO! They're not allowed. They don't care about him, they're using him for their dark goals. They're manipulating the other people to believe in them. I was crying when i saw his sad real story. He's been suffering enough. They're saying this to him ,,You are too big, to asist you in the shop, to buy, or to walk with you in the park". They're leaving him all alone in the park for the other people to bully him, instead these relatives on taking his side. This second husband of his mother, he humiliated him last year at the mountain in front of godparents of the husband. Instead on helping the kid to clean up, he shouted at him very hard, and he cried. Don't take their side, because he's suffered enough! They're equal to us, we don't have rights to mock them! I'm gonna fight morally for their benefits and good will.

I can sometimes exaggerate negative possibilities and be too quick to talk about my overly negative predictions, but if that happens, I will correct myself quickly. However, I also know that a lot of "negative" predictions of mine have been accurate while a lot of other people employed wishful thinking about the same issue. A very good example of this is climate change. I am constantly flabbergasted and surprised how easily so many people can just completely ignore the real results of climate change and the news around it. I am honest about it and most of the things I say about it has been right, not because I am smart and the others are stupid, but because a lot of neurotypicals seem to be capable of ignoring or embellishing reality to support their emotional needs and wishes. They love nice and positive narratives, happy endings, uplifting stories and they seem to think that reality is boring and sad, so they can twist reality to conform to their state of mind. They tend to like stories, narratives that support their prejudices, wishes and beliefs, such as the idea of an ultimate caregiver (god) or that happiness lasts forever. They can have a hard time accepting a negative reality unless it's shrowded in an emotionally-fulfilling storyline that is based on their own desires and states of mind. Honestly, I think that neuronormativity can be delusional sometimes. And then we are accused of being pessimistic as in denying reality, even if we are the ones embracing reality in the face of denialism.
