Wow. That's interesting. I've been doing burpees for nearly 50 years and I always assumed it was a squat into a thrust, push-up, then back into squat, then jump up movement? I'm going to have to try your 'keep hips high' variation.

Do I start off with a slightly heavier jump rope or use the PVC one that I’ve currently got? Liking the 3 single jumps to 1 double under, been jumping for years but never really stuck at giving DU a go

Why do crossfit atheltes never perform proper burpees? They just flop their entire body onto the floor then bring the legs up one at a time. None of them should count as a rep.

If I do push ups and burpees like a snake do they count?

The foundation of a burpee is a SQUAT thrust. It's not called a "RDL-thrust" or a "GOODMORNING-thrust" or a "BEND-OVER thrust." It's a squat down, plank, press-up then plyometric squat jump.

Thank you! I have been trying to get better at burpees. I have been doing a lot of the "bad" things, I now realize! It's nice to see the movements broken down like this.

Kind of hilarious that at no point in the video does he explicitly explain the double under technique. How are you moving your wrists, etc

Thanks! I hadn't really thought about trying to learn balancing in a handstand using the face-to-wall approach. I have no problem with kicking up into a handstand against the wall and holding for a minute. I have no problem with doing regulation wall walks. I do have a problem with balancing in a handstand hold...either using the walk to start, or starting free-standing. Practice is not making perfect! One think that you did not address was how far apart to place the hands, and at what angle?? Thank you!

My opinion is the chest should never rest on ground during a burpee, constant strict tension will improve form also. That’s why you keep your core engaged so you don’t banana your belly on the ground.

I’ve been attempting double unders for the past 3 years; was always inconsistent because I whipped myself so much that I always ended up giving up. I have a competition coming up and DU’s are a requirement so I set my mind that I need to learn doing them. I came across this video when I was at a point where I was about to give up. I followed the steps exactly as instructed and I admit that I got stuck a bit in the last part (1 single, 1 double). BUT today I attempted in stringing double unders together and I managed 17 unbroken!!! Point is, follow the instructions of this video because it DOES work. THANKYOU! So happy with my little win 🎉

So I'd say I have double unders down at this point and can do sets of 50. It gets to be crazy challenging though when you're doing it for so many sets and at that point I'm just gassed.

Just discovered this on WODwell, killer workout. Thanks for the demo. I did it before watching so I did strict pulls until I couldn't then switched to foot assisted to get through to round 9, then got 6 in with the cleans and pushups.

Obviously you should practice slow negative pullups and isometrics to get good at this

Been sitting outside trying to get these tonight... unsuccessful. Watched your video and decided to start with 200 unbroken singles. That was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but I did an unbroken set. Day 1. I'll update as time goes.
