Guys, can you suggest something to darken stainless steel, possibly medical one? I've treated it with sandpaper, so now it looks like brushed. But when left in vinegar for 1h it didnt got any darker unfortunately.

Gotta break em in everyone! Ive hated every axis lock type knife ive ever bought when i first opened it, love every single one now. Even a Bugout or other high dollar folders will be stiff at first

Christ. The inconsistency was caused by you not wearing gloves while handling the knife during and after degreasing, by using a pot too small for the job (it was jammed in there; of course the handle was sticking out), by letting the solution boil and evaporate too much, and by not using enough solution to cover the entire knife by at least half an inch. Maybe that music was as distracting to you as it is to your viewers.

If you've practised with your manual then no. I'm not good enough with mine yet. But where I live assisted knives are illegal so.

I just bought one, but from Walmart, for $13. I can guarantee you it is made by the very same company that makes those $16 ammo cans for Harbor Freight. I was about to go return it because I didn't think it'd be as good as the authentic one from the military. But after seeing your video, I think I'll just keep it.

Better way to test the seal is to fill the can 3/4ths full, lock it, and turn it upside down to see if it leaks. US Cans are Seawater tested for Corrosion Resistance, Chinese Cans are not. US Cans get a 2 Step Finish. Phosphating and Powder Coating. Chinese Cans are Powder Coated only. Buy what you want, but I prefer to keep my $$$ in the USA. F*** China.

Birchwood Casey's Cold Blue product isn't just for gun metal, use it for carbon steel blades and it will work much better, and much faster and it does provide rust protection. It's not expensive either.

Was or is this the best method to prevent the blade from rust? Possible with an Steel like CPM M4, which has 4% Chromium, and lastly should I dip the whole blade on an folder, also the parts where it locks up or not?

The point of spring-assisted is to make it more convenient in a split second situation at its core, not to come out faster per se.

Mine opened like a slip joint. Asked sog for help, and they couldn’t even tell me what day I would get it back, because they didn’t have any more. SMH. It was the S35vn gold model too. I just gave it to my dad who didn’t even know what their fancy opening system was about

Look where your hand placement was after opening the 2. The one with the flip was already in your palm ready to grip. The manual was still thumb side after riding the blade to a open. Unless you got a switch blade or fixed , it’s slower. 😂

I bought a new knife , almost looks like the one you have. Washed it real good with hot water and dish soap the in a glass with the vinegar and water. Left it for 3 hrs . All came out nice and black . No more shiny knife . Washed again and dried. Added a little oil . DONE! Came out good. Thanks for the idea. The knife says Carbon steel 1066

Try (FeCl3): Ferric chloride or (Mn3(PO4)2): Manganese phosphate. You can achieve a long-lasting more "profesional", deep and dark patina with both compounds.
