After this year I am not a big fan of topping soil with straw. It actually made it really patchy and harmed parts of the grass.

I won’t do pine straw this fall. I couldn’t get rid of it last year after sprouting. I’m just going to try and water the seed extra this time.

When my local course switched over to Bermuda grass they kept the fairways in almost a swamp like condition for weeks.

You family wants to put a putting green in our yard and they are worried it’s going to be hard to install. My dad does lots of concrete work so he has most of the equipment was it very hard for you to install and is their a company we should try to get it from.
@DavisMaag6 күн бұрын
My family dang autocorrect
@UnderParAcres5 күн бұрын
It really wasn't that hard, other than having to move all the crushed gravel by hand. The biggest key is getting extremely detail oriented and not taking any short cuts. If you can get the materials directly to the build spot, you could probably build a small green in a long weekend. There's tons of professional companies you can go with, but it will cost 4 to 5 times more than DIY. If you are able to focus on the minute details and enjoy the work, I believe it's well worth it, but if not, I would definitely say to hire a professional who specializes in putting greens, and avoid local contractors who have no experience as I have heard and seen many horror stories of the final product.

Is there anything you would change about how you made this? Planning to use your how-to video as a guide to make my own, curious if after a few years you wish you’d have done something differently
@UnderParAcres5 күн бұрын
One of the minor things I would change is I would have gone with 6 inch cups instead of 4 inch, and used a higher quality cup. I'm already seeing some cracking in a few of the cups I bought for cheap. If I had more budget room, I would have built a bigger green, used an underneath padding, and went with a higher quality tur with heavier face weight and longer fibers that require more infill. That would allow for better holding on longer shots. Good luck and let me know if you ever have any questions. Thanks!
@roeboy82123 күн бұрын
@@UnderParAcres thanks for the info! What kind of padding do people use on these? Does it just go on the crushed rock after it’s tamped down?

My wife gave me the green light to make one of these! Love the video, very instructional. Anything you wish you would have done differently? Also, could you hit long shots into and it receive them halfway decently or would you have needed to add something below the turf? Either way this is awesome and my new guide for my own!
@UnderParAcres5 күн бұрын
First piece of advise, start digging and building while you have the green light...🤣🤣 Seriously though, one of the minor things I would change is I would have gone with 6 inch cups instead of 4 inch, and used a higher quality cup. I'm already seeing some cracking in a few of the cups I bought for cheap. I can hit short chips, but from outside 20 yards it's nearly impossible to stop a ball on. If I had more budget room, I would have built a bigger green, used an underneath padding, and went with a higher quality tur with heavier face weight and longer fibers that require more infill. That would allow for better holding on longer shots. Good luck and reach out if you need any advice during the build! Thanks!

Bruh! Regulations state that putting greens are only supposed to be made of a 64/40 blend of grass stains and elephant grass and that astro grass stuff. Must also have at least one hill that is a ten foot regulation hill. The hole needs to be a three way split shot put that goes over the river. Don't forget to troll for more negative comments because that electrically charges your electric putter club thingy. Enjoy your new green! Oh, almost forgot, it's way too small.

Nice but are you able to chip onto the green without it bouncing like it hit a cart path?
@UnderParAcres5 күн бұрын
From inside about 20 yards I can hold chips, but outside 20 yards, it's like landing on concrete for sure! I would have had to gone much bigger and spent a lot more money if I wanted to hold longer shots.
