I bought an A400 Upland a few months ago and am very disappointed. It does not fit me worth a damn but I had nobody where i live. Is there a fix for it or just get rid of it.
@claylabusa
@claylabusa 4 күн бұрын
To be honest, not many guns "fit" too many people. especially one thats supposed to be focused on bird hunting or purposefully made to be light-weight to make easier to carry around. If gun fit is big concern for you the only options you really have are 1) adjust the length of pull and add shims, if it came with it. or 2) get a custom stock made for it. Many folks get custom stocks made for semi-autos but usually for their competition guns. Many folks also will get custom stocks made for higher-end hunting guns but most are hard pressed to put a custom stock on something that costs half the amount of a pattern stock but to each their own right. If your using it for competition just because it is a nicer engraving that right on, everyone with whatever brand gun eventually goes through gun fit concerns. I even had my first A400's stock shortened for the wife to be able to shoot and it cost something like 100$ with a new pad fitted. Hope that helps, if not reaching out to folks like Cole's , Greenwood, or other gun fitters will definitely help. Not sure if you are meaning its too short, long, cast is all wrong, grip is terrible etc.

Are the $250 Filtered earplugs from soundgear safe enough for an indoor range?
@claylabusa
@claylabusa 29 күн бұрын
Safe enough, absolutely. Foamies are truly safe enough, so im assuming the idea is to be able to communicate better at the range, filtered earplugs are better, than electronic hearing protection provides better benefits than that. Safety is key but truly all we are doing when spending more money on ear protection is buying more capability in communication and how many times we don't have to remove our ear protection in environments where it could be harmful to enjoy communicating with others. All safe, which ones best is just how much ease of communication matters to you. Regardless of the brand. Hope that helps!

Alrigh, guys, here's one that I'd love to see you tackle. Is there any performance difference between extended choke tubes and flush fit? Does that last inch matter(lol!), or is it simply weight and convenience? How about choke tube porting and recoil? Lots of videos looking at density and brand differences, but nothing scientific on these issues/questions.

@claylabusa

I have actually asked about that. Krieghoff chrome lines just the chamber portion of the barrels and polishes the barrels to a mirror like finish. The round about answer I got was that they found it unnecessary and saved money for the buyers instead of adding to the marketing hype over it.

Fewer pellets are required to break a spinning target than you experienced shooting a stationary target due to the stress of the centrifugal forces imparted on the target by the thrower.
@gregsnewyt
@gregsnewyt Ай бұрын
The scientific question is how much force is required to crack a clay pigeon at various locations on the target. Is the kinetic energy in a single #7 1/2, #8, #8 1/2 or #9 capable of breaking the target at normal contact range. If not, how many pellets of each size is required? Being capable of launch a specific number of pellets at a fixed speed into the target, edge on, as most targets are encountered would be best. Additionally, the centrifugal force of the spinning target needs to be included in the experiment as the spinning clay is trying to break apart but is held together by the shear strength of the material. Hitting targets earlier rather than later in flight produces higher percentage of breaks not just because of pattern density but also because the spin rate is higher earlier in flight imparting greater centrifugal force on the target. Good stuff, but would love to see you go deeper while better controlling variables.
