Thank you so much for your videos. I have just gotten a sun conure as his owner passed away. I raised cocktails before but new to this type of bird. I'm not familiar with anything his owner did with him. He is pretty quite but quite active in his cage. He has lots of toys. I am trying to watch as many videos as I can to learn all I need to know to have a happy new family member. I need all the help I can get. He doesn't get on my hand yet. But he's getting closer to me now. I'm not sure if I should let him out yet as he is not familiar with us yet. I don't know what to do? Please help.

I loved this episode. It is a great way to inadvertently start an argument with a group of bird people though. The idea of feeding pellets and backing your choice with blood tests, though scientifically sound, goes so against what is being said by literally everybody else. I admire his confidence and am less worried about my pellet content now.

Tops pellets and Birdtricks are the same just renamed. I learned that from David. Tops is cold pressed...Harrisons are heat treated. Not as healthy as Tops.

Love the cork perch! Does it get pooped on lots? And where did you get it?
@PoodlesandParrots10 күн бұрын
Thank you! It actually doesn't get pooped on usually and I ordered it from an online parrot store but not all sell them! The cork perches are quite popular in European parrot shops online but less popular in North America, so it just depends on where you are based!

Hey! I am new to your chanel and i have a question for you.. you see my green cheek conure dosent like music at all, i tried every tipe of music he just starts yelling and showing signs he doesn't like it. Please help and/or give me advice
@PoodlesandParrots10 күн бұрын
Welcome to the channel!😊Every bird is different, so it’s possible your conure just doesn't like music. Try playing it at a lower volume or use natural sounds like birdsong or rainfall. You might also experiment with instrumental music or classical tunes. Pay attention to his reactions and adjust accordingly. If he doesn't like then he doesn't like it☺ Good luck! 🦜

How often do you rotate your toys?
@PoodlesandParrots10 күн бұрын
Depends on my schedule, but it is usually bi-weekly since she spends a lot of out-of-cage time and also has different bird areas set up with stands and more toys, etc!

I was very concerned about my Sun Conure “Oh Lordy” he screams and screams until I come back in to the living room to sit, then he will get quite and play on his gym or he eats, they say don’t come in and get him, if I don’t he will fly to the ground and look for me, even if I am in the bathroom Oh Lordy 😅

My turn: Aaron is a GCC. Also very aggressive to the point, where you can't interact with him. He was given to me by the original owner. I love Aaron. It could be possible that he doesn't love me back? Aaron has toys all throughout his cage. He was once kept in the dirt for a long time. Now I have Aaron, he is bathed in the house every night before bed time. I never let any of my Bird's sleep in their own mess from all day. Even if I leave Aaron, when I come back, I clean out his house at night. Aaron was very territorial from the time I got him. I did have to reprimand him, "I'm the Mommy, I take care of you, feed you, play with you. Now Aaron allows me to put my hand in his cage to clean it. That's taken care of. Aaron is a violent Parrot. The owners must have not cared much for this Parrot. I give treats, Apple, he loves Apple. Not much food does Aaron like. I tried lettuce, walked away from it. Broccoli pieces, no, Blueberries, no, a very different Parrot from what I watched. Aaron sleeps at 8PM thru 9AM. Not enough time to feel good? My words, a baby is not this problematic, unless it has a Medical condition we don't know of. Same with a GCC, could be tics or flees, but you can't touch their back. So you have to spend thousands to find out the cause? Not very helpful to say the least. What next?🦜
@gaylefriedman377318 күн бұрын
Let me include, Aaron's Wings were clipped. They grew in. He can fly short distances to his cage and back. Could this be a cause of aggression?

In this video version, I included some photos in different parts when we talk about the droppings; for the abnormal droppings, it's hard to include a picture of each bird's situation. Here's a couple resources; bestbehavedbirds.com/2022/08/13/all-about-parrot-poop-and-parrot-poop-guide/ and www.thesprucepets.com/bird-poop-101-390429

I work about 10 hours a day. But when I get home cage is open and I play with my conure for 4 hours a night. I worry that she has too much cage time. I do provide lots of foraging and chew toys.
@PoodlesandParrots19 күн бұрын
You could consider a mate for your bird in the future (hopefully they would bond!) and it's good that there are lots of toys, foraging and opportunities for play. If there is someone else at home like family that could spend time with your bird during your work day that would also beneficial. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ja1lrZWK39Oqc5s.htmlsi=QXCFlulXk1fz0q4k
