Does the vinyl become brittle over time?

Not the current products... unless they're cheaper overseas options, Impact resistant modifiers are part of the composition.

Color selection is actually much better than you say. Pricing is more like 50 plus percent more than typical wood fencing but LOOKING to the future your vinyl fence will be a LOT more cost effective. In 6FT high PRIVACY, A typical wood fence, installed, ranges in price anywhere from $25 plf to $45 plf. A basic white Vinyl fence will typically install STARTING at $45 plf . Upgrade in color will add cost incrementallly 5 to 15 percent. Then the next level of Vinyl fencing that are even better are ASA ( Acrylic) blend capstock. There are a LOT of colors available in those systems but they're typically about 40 percent over white for cost of material. (installation costs shouldn't really be affected). Caveat.... pricing will vary from area to area and situation to situation , but this pricing is fairly common in Southwest Ontario, Canada. Video was good .... just seemed a bit outdated maybe..

@@jmm1817 that's been long solved with better titanium dioxide additives as well as utilizing acrylics capstocks. A lot of earlier products indeed had fade issues. As well, some of the current dumbed down or cheapened products are problematic. Especially those sourced overseas. Being a they're half a world away they don't have to worry much about worthless warranties....

Just curious do you think the installer should be responsible or go direct to the manufacturer or both? For any advice

@@jmm1817 most American made product that I'm aware of , Veka , Bufftech , Homeland, National Vinyl, Kroy... to name a few , have at minimum a limited lifetime warranty. Typically the product warranty is not the installers' issue. Unless they sold you on good fence and did the ole bait and switch with an inferior/offshore product. Contact the extruder company if you can get the info from your contractor and start an Incident Report. You may run into what is called an industry 'acceptable fade rate' standard but if it's streaky then that shouldn't be an issue.
