Barkley for a nominal fee is a good signing. Excellent season with Luton and seriously experienced. When Rogers was injured, he was replaced by Cash in MF, because we had no backup midfielders. In CL games against the likes of Real, Bayern etc, who would you rather have coming off the bench, Barkley or Tim? Barkley will be backup for Kamara, and be able to play anywhere across the midfield.

Dan mentions one of the new Villa kit designs is a "nod to a current player". Initially I thought this might be a Scottish inspired kit due to our club heritage, the 150 year Anniversary and that McGinn is our captain and has captained Scotland. But a bigger global commercial success would be an Argentina inspired shirt as a nod to World Cup winner Emi. Light blue and white vertical stripes would make sense for an Away shirt.

I think Mings could play abit left back like Man City do and then really go after a right back. Thought Digne struggled last few months. Pity about Moreno he looks kinda done over bad hamstring injury.Mings very underrated on ball aswell. In fairness Barkley would be very clever signing, brilliant in that new position for him,like a Dougie on the ball, brilliant to feet. In Unai we trust. He rarely gets stuff wrong anyway.

I would be completely okay with selling Duran and giving Archer a chance. It seems to be a recurring theme with Duran that he has attitude problems and McGinns latest interviews only make that more clear in my mind. I do think there's a good player in there but his attitude will hold him back. I don't think we need a player like that in our dressing room - we need absolute team cohesion. Sell him now, make a good profit and let him be someone else's issue. Archer seems to have a much more mature attitude, would be willing to learn from Emery and would have no issue being second striker to Watkins and he's a local lad from Walsall. There has been nothing that makes me think Duran is worth his negatives (despite his flashy goals).

Villa fans need to hope VAR stays, it helps with our high line for offside to be 100% accurate. If VAR goes we might have to change the way we play.

Why do you guys want VAR to go? Emery has exploited VAR with his offside trap and nobody has benefitted from that then Villa. VAR doesn't need to go, the people running it do. If VAR goes then so does our advantage.

Barkley isn't exactly a different player - Luton virtually always used two midfielders (even though that wasn't what their manager wanted to do) so he couldn't play an an 8 or 10. He often stood in as a 6 at Chelsea. Waiting half an hour to talk about him though as if it's no big deal lol

The irony of finally achieving success being met with the prospect of having to sell players we want to keep whilst not being able to sell the ones you want to remove sums up the shambolic rules, put in place after the Premier League Cartel was established. Forever miles behind financially with a gap you can never close. The rules need changing for the benefit of all clubs. Currently they only favour the chosen few.

With respect to Ross i think we shoud be looking for someome a level higher up, villa of old would look to take the best of the relegation players but we need to look forward and better now.
