If the train that passed just before Portsmouth Harbour (Your train stopped Waiting for a free platform), the "Wow, that was a long train", if it was 12 carriages, chances are it was the Waterloo Express, limited stop via Petersfield, Hazelmere, Guildford, Woking, and in to Waterloo. Before I left the UK for Australia in the 90's, the 12 carriage service was always the express. Of course there was the stopper service as well, stopped every station, then they added a service via Fareham / Eastleigh to Waterloo as well. My Grandfather worked for BR in the 70's, so as a wee nipper, I used to go down to Portsmouth and Southsea station and my grandfather would let me on to the platform so i could watch the trains.

@@108Daryltravelstheworld Initially went to Perth but went to Tasmania (Hobart). Portsmouth also services services to Brighton, London Victoria, as well as West Coast to Cardiff. so with 5 platforms, Portsmouth Harbour can be a tad busy at times :)

@canman5060 Stagecoach bus route 19 runs from Farnham Station to Haslemere Station and stops opposite Frensham Pond, about every hour. The bus also serves the railway stations at Farnham and Haslemere, and the bus stop on the A287 at the end of Pond Lane. However, the bus does not run on Sundays. thanks mate 👍

It's expensive for tickets unfortunately and is not so efficient as probably other European countries, often late running trains and bus replacement services due to endless engineering works...the problem is the system was privatised some years ago and greedy private train companies take profit from hiked up prices but don't reinvest in improving the service :/
