I bought this PC with a different APU (4300G). After some research I found out that, depending on the configuration of the components, HP sometimes ships this line of PCs with a 310W PSU. I was also able to find out the parts number of said PSU, which is L16397-001. Luckily HP offers spare parts to consumers as well via their Partsurfer service. Now that I got 310W to work with I decided to slap in a GTX 1650 Super and get the necessary extra power via SATA adapter. I also added a 2TB 2.5 inch for storage, a second identical 8GB 13L76AA RAM stick, upgraded to an Intel AX210 6E wi-fi card (which actually makes use of both pre-installed antennas, unlike the card the PC came with). I also removed the stock CPU fan and replaced it with a Noctua NH-L9x65 and mounted the removed CPU fan (without heatsink of course) onto the drive cage bracket side in order to use it as an intake fan. I think there is not much more I could do to improve this build any further except for a better 4000 series APU/CPU.
@BigCountry2722 жыл бұрын
Sounds good to me! I'd be careful about using the SATA adapter for the video on the 1650 super, might work, but isn't within spec for power delivery maximum of a SATA connector. Sounds like a great build! Thanks for sharing.

Howdy Josh, the easiest thing to do in your situation is to open the computer and remove the memory inside and see what speed it is. It'll be DDR4 since it's new, and as long as you get memory the same speed or higher, it should work just fine.

@@fastcarippolito68 The card I used was a single card fan. I would be weary of fitment of a double fan card, and would go ahead and say that no triple fan card would fit. Does the CPU cooler backing plate separate from motherboard and case? Or will I have to make whatever cooler I use work with the HP supplied backing plate and screws? I ordered one of these computers a few days ago to do some light CAD work and I want to upgrade the cooler to a Noctua or some other air-cooler cooler. I'm trying to plan the build out. Also, do you know if the case has standard ATX mounting points? Would it be possible at some point to just throw a standard ATX mobo and PSU into this thing? I'm pretty good with 3D printing so I'm hoping I can design some sort of adapter to mount a standard ATX PSU - down the road at some point if the stock stuff doesnt' work out for me. Thanks for the videos. They've made my feel not-so-bad about by low budget purchase.
@BigCountry2723 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. The backing plate is Intel style and shaped, keep that in mind! I removed the factory backing plate. It's attached to the motherboard with double sided tape, so instead of prying from the bottom, I took a small screwdriver and pressed down on the screw post side on each corner until it popped off. At that time, I was able to mount the backing plate that came with my EVGA CLC. The case does NOT have standard ATX mounting points or a removable IO plate. The power supply is also a nonstandard size. If you wanted to upgrade I would budget for another case, motherboard, and PSU, and move the rest of the components, the processor is the big prize here.
