I am familiar with and understand the numbering system,.my question is, with the numbering system how do you know which octave you should play In ( I play piano/ keyboard mostly)

The number system doesn't let you know which octave to play. You will use the number system plus you ear to play the right chords in the right octave. Hope this helps!

This is what’s called Scale Degrees. This has been around in music theory for much longer than the Nashville Number System. The Nashville Number System uses scale degrees but there’s much more to it.
