Why was the volume modulator before the volume detector? Why does it not make sense to first detect the volume before modulating it?

Does anyone happen to know if the diode ladder filter design lends itself to self oscillation? I don't think Moritz demoed it in any of the diode ladder videos.

it does!

@@MoritzKlein0 That is awesome, I'll absolutely build this next, then. Thanks for the response. :) Already made a version of your osc build.

This video was terrible, where's the Indian guy? And what's with all the detailed explanations? Less talking and well layed out diagrams! More continuously looped bad Indian music!

How does a SEM filter work differently from a ladder filter?
@MoritzKlein09 күн бұрын
not too familiar with the SEM filter, but at first glance seems to be similar to the MS-20 filter. both use OTAs to implement voltage control over the cutoff. (the MS-20 does resonance differently though, which is why the character is different.)
@josephwright59219 күн бұрын
@@MoritzKlein0 Yes, I have an MS 20 and a Minilogue XD, but the Oberheim sounds smoother to sweeter to me.

really enjoyed this one...although I sometimes get confused by analog circuits, these videos really show the core principles (e.g. what components make up the sound & how they're combined) in a straight forward manner. For a future video it would be really cool if you could do different types of percussions with a more "digital" sound.
@MoritzKlein09 күн бұрын
what kind of sound were you thinking of? i‘m considering doing something sample-based, in the same vein as the 909 cymbals.
@officialphazenoise8 күн бұрын
@@MoritzKlein0 I would really love to see more tonal percussions like congas, bongos, etc.. Maybe with a Ring Modulator. Sample-based is definetely an option. If you do so, a bit more information on the sample side would be cool (e.g. why you picked / designed the samples in use), but a circuit approach to a percussion synth would be interesting as well. Thanks!

I love your Videos. I would love to See how you‘d realise the power supply for the OPVs with just one Single Powersource. I know how to creat the +/- voltage but wouldn‘t Affekt the OPVs each other because they would put a strain on the Vortagesource?
@MoritzKlein09 күн бұрын
i think the best way would be to use rail-to-rail op amps and then bias the signal up. that’s rather annoying though, which is why i prefer to work with a dual supply.

yeah but it lacks the third and fifth harmonics. and this can be achieved with freq shifters

That weird LP+HP response (9:15) reminded me of allpass filters with lots of phase shift: The square wave doesn't sound different, but the individual components get delayed differing amounts: This can help "distribute" the spectral contents of "wide" sounds for better gain control, its used in studio mixing. Impulse response would've been very interesting to explore here! I bet the group delay will be obvious when you send only a singular square pulse in I'm going to build this thing soon, might edit results later.

Great video, I love your contant and have build some of your stuff allready, including this power supply. But i think my AC to Av wall wart broke so i want to buy a new one. Which Current would you suggest? before i used 1500mA
@MoritzKlein09 күн бұрын
depends on how much current you want to draw from your power supply. the regulators are able to handle 1.5 A each. but they‘re fine with supplying less.

@19:35 the reason you need more temperature is because either your tip is not clean or your solder is bad ( either old or not good quality solder)

@17:08 It is called Clamper circuit. Vout = 2Vin -Vbe There is also an active from of clamper circuit using opamp that its output is 2Vin.
