I hope you understand the area where the buildings were demolished were once operated by Rocketdyne. They were a test lab for rocket engines. But the also were a nuclear lab. In the mid 50s they had a melt down with out of control fuel rods. There was an extreme release of radiation that spread across the entire San Fernando Valley. All the beautiful homes up against the hills in Chatsworth and Canoga Park got the worst of it. It's why Roy Rogers moved his ranch to Apple Valley..., (near Barstow). We lived in Reseda and our next door neighbor worked at Rocketdyne. He came home the day it happened and knocked on our door, then stepped back in the driveway to tell my father. His name was Gene Shanks. He didn't last but a couple days. He contaminated his wife and she died a few weeks later. The government never accepted the blame. The lab was contracted to experiment with a new type of nuclear fusion. Search youtube for Rocketdyne and you should find a documentary on the accident. The whole area of the lab will be radioactive for several thousand years.

I used to push cows on that property before the golf course. I had a horse that was dropped on the land way before that course. Sad to see those hills getting built on when it has such good grazing and history for many years back. The old Adobe house by tapo park no longer. Shame progress has let the politicians capitalize and pad there bank accounts. I no longer live in Simi so I can have good memories of how it was when I grew up. Open fields and hills to play in. Gillibrand's and Boyals keep on keeping on whith ranching. Not sure how many more ranching is happening out there but it's a shame there killing it off.

I used to play there a lot. Loved both courses. They were challenging as hell! Vince Neil, of Motley Crue, used to hold his charity Skylar Neil Memorial Golf Tournaments there. I played in the last three until attendance went down due to the economy and high tournament fee. But they were SO much fun and full of decadence. Thank you for this video. Lots of great memories. It made me cry.

I visited today, February 13, 2018. It was almost scary how the club house building and parking lot looked more abandoned than just closed. ..Like no one has even walked around there for years! Major cracks on the golf cart paths, growth coming up through the cracks in the parking lot. I ventured into the golf course and it was eerie because you could imagine it green but the fairways brown and even bare in some areas. No signs of development (houses) or renovation. Just weird.
