strange tempi. too fast for the first 3 min and too slow at the fugue. Beautiful singing though. mm 163-170 are the best moments of this whole work.

Mirella Freni is pure ressonance. All her body is vibrating. Small person and such a rich sound. You have to have a perfect technique to create this sound through all the bones and tissues. Her sound is so full.

This is so helpful, but I do wish the vocal was potted way up and never buried by the orchestra for those learning the pronunciation. Still, it's so helpful!

The Requiem was one of the first Verdi pieces I heard a few years ago. This movement is definitely a highlight, especially the stretched version of the subject at 9:34. It's so beautiful!

Verdi wrote this movement first, then took fragments from it and expanded on them to create the other six movements. The orchestra has the beginning of this one to start the Sanctus, the remainder of which is the inversion of the fugue that makes up the bulk of this movement.

Sang this with Oakland Symphony Chorus in the '80s It never gets old....lovely to see and try the score, vocally I was a 1st Tenor then :) maybe baritone but never forgot my part

Dieses Lied hat so viele tolle Dynamik: es ist einfach unglaublich wenn mann es sich anhört, wie das Chor perfekt zusammen singen kann, und wie dann der Klang sich erweitert, und mann dann irgendwann mal wirklich sich in das Lied versetzen kann. Sehr gut gemacht! Einfach super!!
